Some trips are not a straight line from A to B. You want a car at the cottage at 4 pm, dinner at the wharf at 6, a stop for the grocery order on the way home and a driver who waits in between. That is what an hourly chauffeur in Muskoka does, and it is a mode in the MuskokaLimousineServices.com booker alongside point-to-point transfers. This page explains when to use it, how the fare is shown, what a few real itineraries look like in kilometres, and when a different booking suits you better.
How much is it to hire a limousine for one hour in Muskoka?
We do not publish a rate card. In the booker you choose the vehicle, the date, your pickup and the number of hours, and it shows one fixed all-in fare before you pay. The total depends on the car class, the day and the duration you enter, so the only reliable number is the one on your screen.
That is deliberate. A "from" price tells you little in a region where a Friday in July, a weekday in March and the Saturday of a wedding are very different bookings. The fare you see is the fare you pay: one fixed, all-in figure for your pickup, hours and vehicle, with HST included. There is no meter.
How hourly booking works, step by step
- Open the booker and switch to hourly mode. Enter the pickup address, such as your cottage road and fire number, a resort or a town.
- Enter your start time and the number of hours. If your plan might run long, enter the longer figure; the booker prices what you enter.
- Add stops. List the places you expect to visit. The chauffeur uses them to plan the route; they do not change the booking type.
- Pick the vehicle class. The table below shows who fits where.
- Read the total, then pay. Your confirmation prints the pickup time, the vehicle class "or similar" and the cancellation terms.
- Add a note with the booking for anything specific, such as a dock name, a restaurant booking or a request for a child seat.
If you are unsure how many hours to enter, work backwards from the longest fixed point of the day. A 7 pm dinner reservation that you must not miss is a better anchor than a vague "afternoon".
Hourly or point-to-point: which booking is right?
Hourly is not always the best answer. If the car has to take you from the cottage to a restaurant and leave, a point-to-point transfer with a return trip may be simpler. If it must stay with you, hourly is the cleaner booking.
| Booking type | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hourly chauffeur from MuskokaLimousineServices.com | the hours you choose | fixed fare via booker, quoted before you pay | whatever the class carries | several stops, a car that waits, an unpredictable evening |
| Point-to-point transfer with a return | the length of each leg | fixed fare via booker, quoted before you pay | whatever the class carries | an airport run, a single dinner, a wedding shuttle |
| Local taxi | by the minute | metered | a few bags | short hops in town when one is available |
| Rental car | your own pace | rental rate plus fuel | whatever fits | travellers who want to drive themselves |
| Ontario Northland coach | scheduled | fare on ontarionorthland.ca | normal coach limits | getting between the Highway 11 towns on the timetable |
Pick hourly when the car must wait, stop several times, or change the plan on the fly. Pick point-to-point when you are going from one place to another and not coming back with the same driver. The booker lets you try both for the same date and compare the totals.
Real itineraries, with real distances
Hourly bookings are easier to plan when you can see the road. These distances come from a route planner, rounded, and show driving only. Add time for stops, which usually decides how many hours you need.
| Day plan | Route | Driving distance | Driving time (no stops) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dinner in Bracebridge | Gravenhurst and back | about 35 km round trip | about 35 min |
| Shopping and a restaurant | Port Carling to Bracebridge and back | about 52 km round trip | about 50 min |
| Three-town loop | Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Port Carling, back to Gravenhurst | about 86 km | about 1 h 25 |
| Lakes run | Port Carling to Bala and back | about 34 km round trip | about 35 min |
| Huntsville lookouts | Huntsville to Arrowhead Provincial Park and back | about 24 km round trip | about 45 min |
| Lake of Bays circuit | Bracebridge, Baysville, Dorset, Dwight, Huntsville | about 126 km | about 2 h |
The last row has its own planning page: the Muskoka fall colours tour lists tower reservations, Algonquin permits and timing. For a view from the water and the wharf, see Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Port Carling.
Cottage hopping and the weekly shop
Cottage country life runs on short trips. A typical hourly use is the weekly run: pick up the family at the cottage, stop at the grocery store in Bracebridge or Huntsville, pass the liquor store (the provincial retailer is called the LCBO, and its hours vary by store, so check lcbo.com before a holiday), collect the dry cleaning, and return. The chauffeur loads the bags, waits at each stop, and carries them to the door. Fire numbers, the reflective rural address signs on cottage roads, make the last leg straightforward.
This is also a useful setup for visiting parents who do not drive on gravel roads at dusk, or for a house party where one car should not be left idle in a driveway.
Cottage transfers that are one-way, such as the opening-weekend arrival with a car full of bedding, are covered separately on the cottage transfers page.
Dinner, drinks and the ride home
Muskoka restaurants cluster on the waterfronts, and the roads between them are dark and winding. An hourly car lets a party of four arrive together, stay as long as the evening runs, and go home without anyone counting drinks. We do not promise or supply alcohol on board; any other arrangement is your own responsibility under Ontario law.
Plan the booking this way:
- Set the start about 15 minutes before you need to leave the cottage.
- Enter the dinner reservation time as an anchor, then add an hour either side for the drive and a drink.
- Add a final stop, such as a dock or a cottage lane, in a note with the booking.
Late-night taxis are not reliable in the smaller villages, which is another reason to fix the return before the evening starts. Our wider taxi alternative page explains where a local cab works and where it does not.
Golf, wineries and breweries
Golf days suit an hourly car because the tee time is fixed and the round is not. See golf transportation for how to plan the pickup and the return. For tasting days, the brewery and winery tours page is the place to plan. The same principle applies: one booking, one driver, a plan that survives a long lunch.
Weddings, retreats and groups
Hourly hire is the standard way to run a shuttle loop between a venue and a hotel. An Executive Sprinter takes up to 12 passengers and 12 bags; a Jet Sprinter Executive takes up to 7 passengers and 5 large bags. A Stretch Limousine takes up to 8 passengers, a Stretch SUV Limousine up to 14, and a Party Bus up to 14. The stretch and party-bus classes carry little luggage (a Stretch SUV Limousine takes 4 large bags and a Party Bus 2), and their availability is confirmed at booking. Coaches from 20 to 56 seats are available on request.
For the wedding day itself, our Muskoka wedding limo page covers the timeline, and the party bus and stretch limo page covers the larger vehicles. For conferences, the corporate retreat transportation page explains monthly invoicing for company accounts.
Privacy, safety and who is in the car
Our chauffeurs are licensed, and the vehicles are licensed and commercially insured. They do not photograph clients or post about trips, and NDAs are available on request. You can ask the desk to keep your details private and add a note with the booking for anything specific. Our chauffeurs are not security officers, though a VIP security guard can be added in the booker, and we also work alongside a client's own security team. Child seats, toddler seats and booster seats are options at booking. Pets travel in a carrier, so tell the desk about a pet when you book, and trained service animals travel free.
Waiting time, peak dates and cancellation
On non-airport pickups, 15 minutes of waiting is free at the start of the booking. For the hours inside your booking, the chauffeur waits at each stop as part of the plan. If you suspect your plans will change, ask the 24/7 reservations desk before the day, because the booker prices what you entered.
Cancellation is counted from the scheduled pickup. More than 72 hours' notice carries no charge; 72 hours or less 10%; 48 hours or less 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%. Peak dates, such as long weekends, may carry a different deadline, printed on your confirmation. Our Thanksgiving and long weekends guide shows which dates tend to fill first.

Frequently asked questions
How much is it to hire a limousine for one hour?
There is no published hourly rate. The booker shows one fixed all-in fare for your vehicle, date, pickup and hours before you pay. That total already includes HST, and nothing is added at the end of the trip.
How much is limousine hire per day?
A day booking is priced the same way: choose the vehicle, enter the start time and the number of hours for the day, and the booker shows the total. Full-day plans are common for weddings, golf days and fall colour tours.
How much does a limo cost in Ontario?
It varies with the vehicle, the day, the distance and the hours. We do not publish ranges, because a Sunday in March and a Saturday in August are not comparable. The only dependable figure is the fixed fare in the booker for your exact booking.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
Enter the hours you need and the booker shows the total for that plan. If you are weighing a short job against a longer one, try the booking both ways and compare. The reservations desk, open 24/7, can answer questions before you pay.
Can the car wait while I eat or play golf?
Yes. That is the main reason to choose hourly. The chauffeur waits at each stop within your booked hours, so list your stops and the longest fixed point of the day when you book.
Can I use hourly hire for a wedding?
Yes. Many weddings use hourly cars for shuttles between a venue, a hotel and a photo location. An Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers; stretch limousines and the party bus carry little luggage, and their availability is confirmed at booking.
Do you provide child seats?
Child seats, toddler seats and booster seats are booker options. Add them when you book and note the child's age or weight, so the right seat is in the car at pickup.
Is hourly hire better than a taxi?
For a short hop in town, a metered taxi can be the sensible choice. For several stops, a car that waits and a fare known in advance, hourly hire is the better fit.
