Cottage, resort and airport cars from Gravenhurst to Dorset and Parry Sound, to Pearson, Billy Bishop, Muskoka Airport and every major airport in Ontario; fly-in arrivals from the rest of Canada met through the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network.

Muskoka Steamships is one of the most searched names in the region, and the demand is seasonal: it jumps in summer and again around Thanksgiving, when the autumn colours bring day-trippers up from Toronto. A steamship cruise has a hard departure time, a check-in window and a car park that is only as useful as your arrival. MuskokaLimousineServices.com books chauffeured cars to the Gravenhurst Wharf, the cruise ticket office and the Muskoka Discovery Centre, with the fixed fare shown before you pay.

How do you get to Muskoka Steamships at the Gravenhurst Wharf?

By car it is about 170 km from Toronto Pearson, usually 1 h 45 off-peak and up to 3 h 30 on a summer Friday. The operator recommends arriving about 45 minutes before departure, and parking is free. A pre-booked chauffeur drops you at the ticket office and returns for you after the cruise.

The operator's address for the steamships is 185 Cherokee Lane, Gravenhurst, and the Muskoka Discovery Centre is at 275 Steamship Bay Road. Both are on the Muskoka Wharf. The wharf is the first stop for many visitors because it sits in town, on Muskoka Bay, with the Residence Inn by Marriott Gravenhurst Muskoka Wharf nearby at 285 Steamship Bay Road.

Be realistic about public transport: the proposed train departures do not suit a cruise that starts around midday and ends in the afternoon, and the coach stop is not necessarily at the wharf. A chauffeur drops you at the ticket office door. For the route itself, see Toronto to Gravenhurst and the Gravenhurst town page.

The vessels and what they mean for your day

The operator's site and Discover Muskoka describe three vessels.

  • Wenonah II, launched in 2002, carries up to 216 passengers, is air-conditioned and has an elevator between the main decks. The operator calls it fully wheelchair accessible.
  • RMS Segwun, built in 1887, carries up to 97 passengers and is described as North America's oldest operating steamship. Her lounge, bar and washrooms are upstairs, reached by stairs, so she is only partly accessible.
  • Wanda III, built in 1915, is 94 feet long and carries up to 20 guests. She is on display in a boathouse at the Discovery Centre, is not wheelchair accessible and is not suited to walkers or strollers.

Cruises run from one hour to four hours, and some include an optional lunch, High Tea or dinner. The operator says its 2-hour cruise is exactly 120 minutes. Dining menus and specialty cruises are listed on its site, and so is a private-events service for groups.

If your group includes someone with limited mobility, check the operator's accessibility notes against the vessel on your date, and mention mobility needs in a note with the booking.

What is sailing in 2026

Two facts matter for this season. In March 2026, Canadian Boating reported that the RMS Segwun was out of service for a comprehensive restoration, with work that began in January, planned spending above $2.2 million and a scheduled return to service on September 1, 2026. It added that the Wenonah II would increase her schedule until the Segwun rejoined the fleet, and that the Wanda III, which returned to service the previous year fully electrified, would sail regularly. The Canadian Boating report has the details.

So the ship you board depends on your date. The operator's own schedule and ticket page on realmuskoka.com shows what is sailing, and Discover Muskoka's listing for Muskoka Steamships summarizes the fleet. Seasons and schedules are not fixed from year to year, so we avoid quoting dates for next summer and tell you to check the operator's site instead.

Check-in, parking and the construction notice

Three official details change how you plan the car:

  1. Arrive about 45 minutes before departure. The operator asks guests to check in at the ticket office and collect a boarding pass, which is required to board. It also recommends adding about 20 minutes for traffic and detours.
  2. Parking is free for cars, vans, trucks and buses, at both the steamship dock and the Discovery Centre.
  3. Construction on Highway 169 and Bay Street led the operator to ask guests to allow at least 15 extra minutes of travel time in 2026. Both lots remain accessible.

The reason a drop-off is easier than driving yourself is the clock. Arriving 45 minutes early on a Saturday afternoon in August, with a family and a stroller, is hard enough without circling for a space. A chauffeur lets you out at the ticket office and takes the car away.

Book this transfer

The Muskoka Discovery Centre

The Discovery Centre is on Steamship Bay Road and shares the wharf site. Discover Muskoka notes that discounted admission is available with the purchase of a steamship cruise ticket, and the Town of Gravenhurst encourages visitors to explore its exhibits and galleries. Wanda III's new boathouse is on display there.

We have not verified current hours, so check the Discovery Centre's admission page before you plan the afternoon around it. A sensible plan is to visit the centre either before check-in or after the cruise, with the chauffeur's return time set accordingly.

A day trip from Toronto, hour by hour

This is an illustration, not a published schedule. It assumes a cruise that departs at noon, a weekday, and a pickup in downtown Toronto.

  1. 8:30 am: pickup at your hotel or home.
  2. 10:30 am: arrive at the wharf, about two hours after leaving.
  3. 11:15 am: check in at the ticket office, 45 minutes before departure.
  4. 12:00 pm: cruise departs.
  5. 2:00 pm: a two-hour cruise ends. Lunch in town or a visit to the Discovery Centre.
  6. 4:30 pm: the car leaves for Toronto.
  7. 6:45 pm: arrive downtown, depending on traffic.

On a summer Friday, push the first leg earlier by an hour or more. On a Sunday, allow extra time on the return. You can add a stop in Barrie on the way back and set a return trip on the same booking.

Walking the wharf

The wharf is a place to be early for. Discover Muskoka lists a 2 km mulch-based Muskoka Wharf and Peninsula Trail, stroller-friendly, with views of Lake Muskoka and the wharf, gazebos, benches, picnic tables and a Children's Memorial Gazebo beside the water. If you arrive 45 minutes before a cruise, a short stretch of that trail is a better use of the wait than a car park. If you want to eat or shop, the Gravenhurst page lists what is nearby, and the Residence Inn is on the wharf.

Evening and autumn cruises

The operator lists dining menus and specialty cruises, and the Town of Gravenhurst's event calendar listed a Thanksgiving Dinner Cruise on October 10, 2026. Evening cruises change the return trip: you finish after dark and face a drive of about two hours. Having a chauffeur who has not been on the lake all evening is the sensible answer. Book the return pickup for the time the ship docks, and tell the reservations desk the cruise's scheduled end.

For autumn colour weekends, expect Highway 11 to be busy near Thanksgiving. See our Highway 400 and 11 cottage traffic guide, and Ontario 511 for live conditions.

Children, strollers and car seats

A steamship day with young children is mostly logistics. Child, toddler and booster seats are options in the booker, and a seat chosen at booking is in the car when the chauffeur arrives. The Wenonah II has an elevator between decks, which the operator highlights for accessibility; the Segwun's lounge and washrooms are up a flight of stairs, and the Wanda III is not suited to strollers. If you plan to ride the Segwun with a baby, a carrier is easier than a pram. Tell the desk about a pet when you book; pets travel in a carrier in our cars, and trained service animals travel free, but check the operator's own rules for what comes aboard a vessel.

Groups, weddings and private events

Large groups are a good fit. An Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter) carries up to 12 passengers and 12 bags, and the Jet Sprinter Executive carries 7 passengers and 5 bags. A Business SUV or Executive First Class SUV carries 6 passengers and 6 bags. Stretch limousines, party buses and coaches of 20 to 56 seats are available on request, with availability confirmed at booking; a stretch limousine takes minimal luggage and a party bus two large bags. See Sprinter and group transportation and the Muskoka wedding transportation guide for timing, and the attractions hub for other places to visit.

If you need to cancel

Cancellation is counted from the scheduled pickup. With more than 72 hours' notice there is no charge; with 72 hours or less, 10%; with 48 hours or less, 50%; and with 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%. Peak dates, such as long weekends and big weddings, may carry a different deadline, printed on the confirmation. Check the cruise operator's own ticket terms separately.

Booking your wharf transfer

  1. Open the booker and choose the pickup.
  2. Enter the wharf, the ticket office or your hotel as the drop-off.
  3. Add the return trip with its own time, and any extra stops.
  4. Confirm the fixed, all-in total, which has 13% HST included.

How early should I arrive for a steamship cruise?

The operator recommends about 45 minutes before departure to check in and collect a boarding pass, plus about 20 minutes for traffic and detours. In 2026 it also asked guests to allow at least 15 extra minutes because of road construction.

Is the RMS Segwun sailing?

The Segwun was out of service in 2026 for restoration, with a scheduled return on September 1, 2026, and the Wenonah II increased her schedule in the meantime. Check the operator's schedule page for the ship that sails on your date.

Is parking free at the wharf?

Yes. The operator says parking is free for cars, vans, trucks and buses at both the steamship dock and the Muskoka Discovery Centre. A drop-off by chauffeur avoids the search for a space altogether.

How long are the cruises?

Sightseeing cruises range from one to four hours, with optional lunch, High Tea or dinner on some. The operator's 2-hour cruise is exactly 120 minutes. Its site lists the current schedule and menus.

Can a limo take me from Toronto to the wharf?

Is the Wenonah II wheelchair accessible?

The operator describes the Wenonah II as fully wheelchair accessible, with an elevator between the main decks. The Segwun is partly accessible and the Wanda III is not. Tell us any mobility needs in a note with the booking, and use the wheelchairs option in the booker if it applies.

How much is the transfer?

No fare is printed on this page. The booker gives a fixed all-in total for your pickup and drop-off, and cruise tickets are sold separately by the operator.
