Rocky Crest Resort is on the shore of Lake Joseph near MacTier, on the Georgian Bay side of Muskoka, and it is a resort that most guests reach by road from Toronto. MuskokaLimousineServices.com books the private car for that road: Pearson or Billy Bishop to the front door, a hotel pickup in the city, or the return leg after a golf weekend. This page covers the route, the distances to the neighbouring towns, which vehicle suits which party, and what the public coach can and cannot do for you.
How do you get to Rocky Crest Resort from Toronto Pearson?
Take Highway 400 north from Highway 401 for about 190 km, leave at the Highway 141 exit signed for Rosseau and Huntsville, then follow Lake Joseph Road and Hamer Bay Road to the resort. The total is about 215 km, usually 2 h 20 to 2 h 45 off-peak. A pre-booked car does it door to door.
The resort gives its own address as 20 Barnwood Drive, MacTier, Ontario, which is the one to use for hotel, villa or cottage check-in. The golf club on the property lists a separate mailing address on Hamer Bay Road. If a satellite navigation system sends you to one and the car park is at the other, you are within a few minutes of the right place. Put "Rocky Crest Resort, Barnwood Drive" in the booker and the chauffeur has the reception entrance, not the golf clubhouse.
What Rocky Crest is, in plain terms
According to the resort's own site, rockycrest.ca, it sits on rocky outcrops of the Canadian Shield on Lake Joseph and offers one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom accommodation: suites, lofts, villas, cabins and cottages, some of them on the water. There is a waterpark, three on-site restaurants open to guests and the public, and canoeing, kayaking and hiking. The Discover Muskoka listing for the resort adds a sandy beach, tennis, a hot tub, an outdoor pool, EV charging and a pet-friendly policy, and describes the property as a wedding venue (Discover Muskoka).
Golf is a large part of the draw. The resort's site lists three championship courses under the ClubLink name: The Lake Joseph Club, Rocky Crest and The Mark O'Meara Course. The Rocky Crest course was designed by Thomas McBroom and opened in May 2000, and its log clubhouse houses a dining room overlooking the 18th green, according to the course's about page. The resort's golf packages are sold under the ClubLink Muskoka name, and one of its offers is a midweek stay running Sunday to Thursday.
Distances: Rocky Crest to the airports and towns around it
| From Rocky Crest to | Road distance | Typical off-peak time |
|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | about 215 km | 2 h 20 to 2 h 45 |
| Downtown Toronto (Union Station) | about 216 km | 2 h 25 to 2 h 50 |
| Parry Sound | about 28 km | 30 min |
| MacTier village | about 13 km | 15 min |
| Bala | about 33 km | 40 min |
| Port Carling | about 32 km | 40 min |
| Gravenhurst | about 60 km | 1 h 05 |
| Muskoka Airport (YQA) | about 66 km | 1 h 15 |
| Huntsville | about 74 km | 1 h 10 |
| Barrie | about 117 km | 1 h 30 |
Distances are rounded road figures from a route planner. The last leg off Highway 400 is short, only a few minutes on Highway 141, Lake Joseph Road and Hamer Bay Road, so almost the whole trip is on the divided highway. On a summer Friday afternoon, the stretch of Highway 400 between Barrie and Port Severn can add an hour or more, and the Sunday return is the reverse. Our cottage traffic guide has the pinch points, and the Thanksgiving and long weekends guide covers the heaviest dates.
Public transport to Rocky Crest: what exists, and what it leaves out
There is no public service that delivers you to the resort's door. Ontario Northland's Toronto, Barrie, Parry Sound and Sudbury coach, whose timetable took effect on August 30, 2026, does stop at MacTier, about 13 km away. Northbound, a coach from Union Station Bus Terminal at 10:00 reaches MacTier at 13:54, and a late trip from Yorkdale at 20:15 reaches it at 22:47. Southbound, MacTier has coaches at 09:47 and 19:47. The current timetable PDF is the source to check before you rely on any of these.
The gap is the last 13 km. A coach to MacTier still needs a car from the village to the resort, with luggage, and that car has to be arranged in advance because MacTier is a hamlet, not a place where cabs wait. Guests who start with the coach and then book a short pickup from MacTier are one common combination; the other is to book the whole journey and skip the terminal.
Rocky Crest by car, coach, air or your own wheels
| Mode | Door-to-door | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private car from Pearson or the city | about 2 h 20 to 2 h 45 | fixed fare via booker | by vehicle class, up to 12 bags | groups, golf bags, families |
| Ontario Northland coach to MacTier, then a car | about 4 h 30 plus the last 13 km | published fare, carrier's site | coach hold | one traveller, daytime |
| Fly to Muskoka Airport (YQA), then car | flight plus about 1 h 15 | airline fare plus transfer | airline rules | seasonal flyers; see the guide |
| Drive your own car | about 2 h 20 to 2 h 45 | fuel and parking | your car | couples with a full boot |
For a single traveller who is happy to sit on a coach, the public option exists and runs daily. The private car is the better choice when you are three or more, when your group has golf bags, when your flight lands after the last useful coach, when children need car seats, or when you would rather arrive at the resort reception than at a roadside stop. Golf weekends, Sprinters and the golf bag problem
A golf weekend is the single most common reason a group of eight or twelve books a transfer to Rocky Crest, and it has a logistics trap. A full golf bag is long and heavy, and four players with four golf bags plus suitcases fill a vehicle faster than the passenger count suggests.
- Four players: a Business SUV or Executive First Class SUV carries up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. Four golf bags and four suitcases is eight pieces, so tell the booker how many of each, and we will confirm whether one vehicle suffices.
- Eight to twelve players: an Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. A second vehicle for the golf bags is sensible for a full load.
- A corporate foursome with clients: a Jet Sprinter Executive seats up to 7 with 5 bags.
- Two guests: a Mercedes E / S-Class carries up to 2 passengers and 2 bags.
Every class is "or similar", and the model is confirmed at booking. Our golf transportation page covers clubs, tee times and course logistics in more detail, and Sprinter and group transportation lists the larger vehicles.
Weddings and group arrivals
The resort advertises weddings, including for 2027. A wedding party has two jobs for transport: the guests who arrive from Toronto the day before, and the couple and family on the day itself. We book both on a single reservation or on several, depending on how many arrival points there are.
For a full wedding block, an Executive Sprinter makes sense for up to 12 passengers and 12 bags, with a Business SUV for the families. A Stretch Limousine, Stretch SUV Limousine or Party Bus can be booked for the couple and party, with availability confirmed at booking; these take little luggage, so bags travel separately. See Muskoka wedding limo and the wedding transportation planning guide for the schedule.
Arrival times, flight tracking and meeting your driver
Every airport pickup includes flight tracking, so the driver follows the actual landing time instead of the printed one. The free waiting allowance is 60 minutes after an international landing, 30 minutes after a domestic one and 15 minutes on other pickups. You can add a meet and greet inside arrivals, where the chauffeur waits inside with a name board, or ask for an alias instead of your own name.
Resort check-in times are not something we can confirm from the resort's website, so we do not quote them. Ask the resort when your accommodation will be ready, and set the pickup time from Toronto to match, not to the earliest possible arrival. A car that arrives at noon with a villa that opens at four has simply moved the waiting from the airport to the car park. For the reverse trip, a flight at 15:00 from Pearson means leaving Rocky Crest at about 09:30.
Bringing children, pets and extra stops
Child, toddler and booster seats are options in the booker, and we recommend adding them whenever a child is under the legal seat age, because a chauffeur cannot improvise one. The resort says it is pet-friendly. Tell the desk about a pet when you book; in our cars pets travel in a carrier, and trained service animals travel free.
Multi-stop trips are one booking. A common pattern is Pearson, then a grocery or LCBO stop in Parry Sound or Barrie, then the resort, and the same on the way out. The LCBO is Ontario's government liquor retailer, and cottage groceries are often combined with it; there is no drinking in our vehicles (a bottle can still be added in the booker as a sealed gift), so any purchases travel as your luggage.
Nearby towns and resorts
Rocky Crest is close to a cluster of Georgian Bay and Lake Joseph destinations that other transfers serve, so a stay here often combines with a day elsewhere.
- MacTier and Georgian Bay is the nearest village.
- Parry Sound is the closest larger town, with a harbour and restaurants.
- Bala and Port Carling are on the lake side.
- Rosseau and Minett and the JW Marriott The Rosseau are east along Highway 141.
- The full list of resorts is on the resorts hub, and every town is on the Muskoka hub.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Rocky Crest Resort from Toronto?
About 215 km from Pearson and about 216 km from Union Station, mostly on Highway 400 with a short finish on Highway 141, Lake Joseph Road and Hamer Bay Road. Usually 2 h 20 to 2 h 45 off-peak, longer on a summer Friday or a Sunday evening.
Is there a bus to Rocky Crest Resort?
Not to the door. Ontario Northland's Toronto, Barrie, Parry Sound and Sudbury coach stops at MacTier, about 13 km away, and you would need a car for the last stretch. A direct private car skips the terminal and the second leg.
What is the address of Rocky Crest Resort?
The resort lists 20 Barnwood Drive, MacTier, Ontario P0C 1H0. The golf club on the property uses a mailing address on Hamer Bay Road. Use the resort address for check-in and tell the chauffeur if you are heading to the clubhouse.
Can you carry golf bags to Rocky Crest?
Yes, within the vehicle's bag count. A Business SUV or Executive First Class SUV carries 6 passengers and 6 bags; an Executive Sprinter carries 12 and 12. Four golf bags plus suitcases can exceed one SUV, so state the count at booking.
Can I book a car just for the wedding day?
Yes. Transfers can be booked for the wedding day alone, or for arrival and departure days as well. Stretch Limousine and Party Bus classes are available with availability confirmed at booking, and they take little luggage.
How long will the drive from Pearson take on a Friday in summer?
Allow an extra hour or more beyond the usual 2 h 20 to 2 h 45, particularly between Barrie and Port Severn. Leaving before midday or after the evening rush usually avoids the worst of it. Check the 511 Ontario map before you set off.
Does the car wait if my flight is late?
Yes. Flights are tracked and the pickup follows the actual landing time, with a free waiting window of 30 minutes after a domestic arrival and 60 after an international one. The reservations desk runs 24/7 if a delay becomes long.
What does the transfer cost?
The booker shows one fixed, all-inclusive fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay. Taxes and fees are in the total, with 13% HST included, so what you see is what you pay.
