How much does a limo cost in Ontario, and why is there no single number?
There is no single number because a limo fare depends on distance, time, the vehicle class, the date and the extras you add. Operators quote different things: some a base rate, some an all-in total. At MuskokaLimousineServices.com the booker shows one fixed, all-inclusive fare for your exact trip before you pay, so you never add up the pieces yourself.
"How much is a limo?" is one of the most-asked questions in Ontario, and the honest reply is always "which trip?". A 15-minute hop between two Gravenhurst addresses and a Muskoka-to-Ottawa day are different products. Even two trips of the same distance differ if one is at 5 am on a long weekend and one is at 11 am on a Tuesday in March.
This guide does not publish a rate card, and that is deliberate. A table of prices would be out of date by the next peak weekend, and it would tempt you to compare apples with oranges. What it does publish is the anatomy of a fare: the parts, in the order they appear in the booker, with an explanation of what each does. If you understand that, you can read any quote from any operator, including ours.
What is inside a fixed all-in fare?
The booker's total is fixed and all-inclusive. It shows one figure for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay, with HST included, so there is no list of separate charges for you to add up.
| What shapes the total | What it covers | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Route and time | Pickup, drop-off, any stopovers and the expected drive time | Every booking |
| Vehicle class | The car you chose, from Executive Sedan to Party Bus | Every booking |
| Mode | A point-to-point transfer or By the hour | Every booking |
| Extras | Options such as the Meet and Greet service, child seats or flowers | Only the ones you add |
| HST | Ontario's 13% harmonized sales tax, included in the total | Every booking |
Of those, only the HST has a number we can give you, and it is a public one. The Canada Revenue Agency's GST/HST guidance gives Ontario's rate as 13% and says the place of supply, where the sale is made, determines which rate applies. For a service delivered in Ontario, that is 13%.
The rest depends on the trip. The route and the class move the figure most, and extras change it only if you add them. None of this is a surprise at the end, because the total on the booking page is the total you pay.
What shapes the fare?
Four things do most of the work.
Distance and time
A longer trip costs more, and a slower trip costs more. A road distance of about 165 km from Pearson to Gravenhurst, usually 1 h 50 off-peak, is priced differently from the same distance on a Friday afternoon in July, when the same drive can take 3 h 30 or more. We say that candidly because it matters: you are paying for the car and the chauffeur for as long as the trip lasts, not only for the kilometres.
Vehicle class
The class sets the vehicle, the capacity and the comfort. The booker offers:
- Executive Sedan: up to 3 passengers, 2 large bags
- Mercedes E / S-Class: up to 2 passengers, 2 large bags
- Business SUV: up to 6 passengers, 6 bags
- Executive First Class SUV: up to 6 passengers, 6 bags
- Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter): up to 12 passengers, 12 bags
- Jet Sprinter Executive: up to 7 passengers, 5 large bags
- Stretch Limousine: up to 8 passengers, minimal luggage
- Stretch SUV Limousine: up to 14 passengers, 4 large bags
- Party Bus: up to 14 passengers, 2 large bags
- Mercedes-Maybach: up to 2 passengers, 2 large bags
All are "or similar", with the model confirmed at booking. Mercedes-Maybach, stretch and party bus availability is confirmed at booking, a Rolls-Royce is on request through the reservations desk with availability confirmed in writing, and coaches of 20 to 56 seats are available on request. See the fleet page.
The smart way to control cost is to choose the class by what you need, not by what looks impressive. Six people with six bags is a Business SUV, not a Mercedes-Maybach and a second car. Three people with two bags is an Executive Sedan.
The date and time
Peak dates, such as long weekends and big weddings, can change availability and may carry a different cancellation deadline, printed on the confirmation. Our Thanksgiving and long weekends guide explains why those dates are different on the road as well as on the booking.
Point-to-point or by the hour?
The booker has two modes, and picking the right one matters more than any other choice.
| Mode | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Point-to-point transfer | One pickup, one drop-off, with optional extra stops and a return leg | Airports, cottages, a single destination |
| By the hour | You keep the car and chauffeur for a set number of hours | Wine tours, wedding days, several meetings, anything open-ended |
A common mistake is to book a point-to-point and then add stops until it behaves like an hourly. If your plan has more than two or three stops, or the timing is uncertain, use the hourly mode. The hourly chauffeur page explains how to choose the hours. And when the question is "how much is it to hire a limo for one hour?", the answer is in the booker: pick the class, pick the hour, read the total.
Tolls: what is and is not tolled
On the main route from Toronto to Muskoka, Highways 400 and 11 are not tolled. The one toll road you might meet is the 407 ETR, which crosses the north of the Greater Toronto Area. It is fully electronic: according to the operator's FAQ, there are no toll booths, cameras photograph the licence plate if there is no transponder, and a camera charge is billed per trip in that case. Rental vehicles are billed through the rental company.
For a chauffeured booking, the total has no separate toll line, and the useful action is to put any routing preference in a note with the booking. If you have a strong view, say it before the trip.
Waiting, extras and add-ons
Included waiting times are set by the type of pickup, counted from the scheduled time or the actual landing:
- 60 minutes free after international landings
- 30 minutes free after domestic landings
- 15 minutes free on other pickups
Flight tracking is included on every airport pickup, so a delayed flight does not cost you extra waiting. Train arrivals are tracked too. The options you choose in the booker, such as the Meet and Greet service, child, toddler or booster seats, stopovers and a return trip, are part of the booking you see before paying. Tell the desk about a pet when you book; pets travel in a carrier, and trained service animals travel free.
Tipping
Tipping in Ontario is customary for good service and is at your discretion. The booker's total has no gratuity line. If you want to leave a gratuity, do it in the way that suits you; there is no obligation built into the fare, and the chauffeur will not ask.
How to read a quote from any operator
Whether you use us or someone else, these are the questions that matter. A quote that answers all of them is comparable; one that does not, is not.
- Is it all-in? Does the total include every fee and tax, or are some added afterwards?
- Is HST included? In Ontario it is 13%, added on top of any price that excludes it.
- What vehicle exactly? Class, capacity and bags. "Luxury car" is not a class.
- What is the pickup type? Airport pickup, with flight tracking and a waiting policy, is a different service from a kerb pickup with a fixed time.
- What is the waiting policy? How long is free, and what happens beyond it?
- What is the cancellation policy? Ours is below.
- Are tolls and routing covered? Ask which road, and who pays on the 407.
- Is the vehicle licensed and commercially insured? Ours are.
Be wary of a fare that sounds too good for the distance. A very low quote often excludes things you will pay later, or does not include the class you assumed. Do the arithmetic on a hypothetical long weekend as well, because a rate that is fine on a Tuesday can change on a holiday.
Cancellation and how it affects the real cost
The fare you see is only half of the cost question; the other half is what happens if plans change. Counted from the scheduled pickup:
- More than 72 hours' notice: no charge
- 72 hours or less: 10%
- 48 hours or less: 50%
- 24 hours or less, or a no-show: 100%
Peak dates, such as long weekends and big weddings, may carry a different deadline, printed on the confirmation. For a Muskoka cottage weekend that is a fixed date, book early and keep the deadline in your calendar.
When a private car is the better value, and when it is not
Value is a comparison, so here is one. The numbers for bus and train are public; the car is quoted in the booker.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chauffeured private car | About 2 h from Toronto to Gravenhurst off-peak | Fixed fare via booker | 2 large bags per sedan, 6 per SUV, 12 per Sprinter | Groups, luggage, late arrivals, door to door |
| Ontario Northland bus | Scheduled; check the timetable | Published by Ontario Northland | Per carrier rules | One traveller, light bag, near a stop |
| Northlander train (proposed) | Gravenhurst to Union Station about 2 h 15 | Launch example $52.41 to $66.97 one-way adult, as of 2026 | Rules not yet published | One or two travellers, daytime |
| Own or rental car | About 2 h off-peak | Fuel, parking, rental | Whatever fits | People who want to drive |
A solo traveller on a tight budget is usually better served by a scheduled bus or, once it runs, the train. See the Northlander guide. As soon as there are three or more of you, the per-person cost of a private car falls, and the time saved, the door-to-door pickup and the luggage allowance start to count. We would rather say so than win a booking that is a poor fit.
Why do fares differ so much between websites?
Three reasons, none sinister. First, different classes: an Executive Sedan and an Executive First Class SUV are not the same product. Second, different inclusions: some sites quote a base before tax and fees. Third, different dates: a Tuesday in March and a long-weekend Friday are not priced alike. When you compare, match the vehicle, the date, the pickup type and the inclusions. If you cannot match them, the comparison is not valid.
We publish no prices on this site for exactly that reason. The booker is the only place that reflects the date, the class and the route together.
A worked example, in words
Take a family of four flying into Pearson on a Thursday in late June, heading for a cottage near Port Carling, with two large suitcases, two carry-ons and a stroller.
- The pickup is an airport pickup, so flight tracking is included.
- Four people with four to six bags and a stroller points to a Business SUV, 6 passengers and 6 bags, rather than an Executive Sedan.
- The distance is roughly 165 km to Gravenhurst plus the leg to Port Carling, with a typical off-peak drive of just under two hours before the local leg.
- A child seat is added as a booker option.
- The booker produces one total, with 13% HST included, already added up.
You read the total, decide, and pay. Nothing is added afterwards. See our Port Carling and cottage transfers pages for the local detail.
Where to go next

Frequently asked questions
How much does a limo cost in Ontario?
It depends on the trip. Distance, time, vehicle class and date drive it. At MuskokaLimousineServices.com the booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay. We do not publish a rate card.
How much is it to hire a limousine for one hour?
The booker has an hourly mode. Choose the class and the hours and the total appears before you pay. It differs by class: an Executive Sedan is not priced like a Stretch Limousine.
What is in the fixed fare?
One fixed, all-in figure for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle, with Ontario's 13% HST included. Anything you add in the booker, such as a Meet and Greet service or a child seat, is in the total before you pay, so there is nothing to add afterwards.
Are tolls included?
The total has no separate toll line. Highways 400 and 11, the main route to Muskoka, are not tolled. The 407 ETR is an optional electronic toll road; put any routing preference in a note with the booking.
Do I need to tip?
Tipping is customary in Ontario for good service and is at your discretion. The fare does not include a gratuity line, and the chauffeur will not ask.
What does a long weekend do to the price and the cancellation terms?
Peak dates such as long weekends and big weddings may carry a different cancellation deadline, printed on the confirmation. Availability is tighter, so book early.
What if my flight is late?
Flight tracking is included on every airport pickup. Free waiting is 60 minutes after international landings and 30 after domestic ones, so a delayed flight does not leave the chauffeur waiting at the wrong time.
What is the cancellation policy?
Counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice no charge; 72 hours or less 10%; 48 hours or less 50%; 24 hours or less or no-show 100%.
