Muskoka events 2027: what happens when, and how to get there
Muskoka's calendar peaks from late June to Thanksgiving. Canada Day fireworks in Bracebridge, Wednesday concerts on the dock in Huntsville, a vintage boat show in Gravenhurst, the Muskoka Arts & Crafts show in July, and the Bala Cranberry Festival in mid-October are the fixed points. MuskokaLimousineServices.com gets you to each one by pre-booked car at a fixed fare.
This page is built the way we plan a trip. It shows the 2026 dates where they are confirmed, says "usually held" where the 2027 date is not yet published, and tells you what the arrival looks like. We wrote it in October 2026, so a few events have just finished and a few are days away. Before you plan around any date, open the organizer's own page or the Discover Muskoka events calendar, because dates move.
Why event weekends are the hardest to get to
Muskoka has one main artery, Highway 11, and the festivals cluster on the same weekends as cottage traffic. If you add a parking lot that fills by late morning, road closures around a downtown, and a last coach that left hours before the headliner finished, you can see why people book ahead. The three pressures are:
- Traffic. Friday afternoon northbound and Sunday afternoon southbound are the slow windows. Our traffic guide explains why.
- Parking. Many town-centre events close streets or fill the available lots. A pre-booked car is dropped at a corner you agree in advance and collected at the same place.
- The end of the night. Festivals finish late, taxis are scarce, and coaches finish for the day. A booked return time removes the question.

Canada Day, Fire & Ice and the Bracebridge calendar
Bracebridge's own event pages carry a string of community events through the autumn, and the town's tourism site names two headline occasions: the Fire & Ice Festival, which includes tubing down Manitoba Street, and the Canada Day fireworks over Bracebridge Falls. The Town of Bracebridge website carries the community calendar, and the Bracebridge page covers hotels and where a car can wait. On fireworks night, tell the booker the exact corner for the return and add a note with the booking.
Huntsville Festival of the Arts and Concerts on the Dock
The Huntsville Festival of the Arts ran its 34th summer season in 2026 under the theme "The Arts Are In Our Nature", with the festival's own site selling tickets and running a fall and winter series too. The Algonquin Theatre box office handles the theatre shows, and the festival's current listings include dates at Sandhill Nursery (October 16 and 17, 2026) as well as the Algonquin Theatre (October 29). That matters for transport: venues differ within one festival, so give the booker the exact venue, not just "Huntsville".
Concerts on the Dock is the free-and-easy summer one. The Town of Huntsville's release lists Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in July and August at Town Dock Park on the Muskoka River in downtown Huntsville, with nine dates in 2026 from July 1 to August 26. The Huntsville Art Crawl, a free self-guided tour in and around downtown, ran June 1 to August 30 in 2026. If the date repeats, plan around the same pattern for 2027: the summer series is usually mid-week and the festival's headline shows are usually weekends. Check huntsvillefestival.ca for the current line-up. The Huntsville page and the Deerhurst Resort page cover where to stay.
Muskoka Arts and Crafts Summer Show in Bracebridge
This is the big July one. In 2026 the show ran Friday July 17 to Sunday July 19 at Annie Williams Park, 50 Santa's Village Road, Bracebridge, with hours of 11 am to 5 pm on Friday, 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday. According to Discover Muskoka, on-site parking is free, advance tickets are sold in the show's app, and gate tickets are cash only. Check the Muskoka Arts & Crafts Summer Show listing for the 2027 dates once published.
Annie Williams Park sits on the same road as Santa's Village, so a family weekend can combine both; the Santa's Village page has the directions and the car-seat rules. For a shopping-heavy day, a Business SUV (up to 6 passengers and 6 bags) or a Sprinter helps with purchases that do not fit a small trunk.
Antique boat show in Gravenhurst
The Antique and Classic Boat Society's Toronto chapter holds its Vintage Boat Show at Muskoka Wharf, Bay Street, Gravenhurst, and the 44th edition ran on Saturday July 11, 2026, 9 am to 4 pm, with free admission and a new vintage and classic car show beside the wharf (details at acbs.ca). In 2025 the date was July 12, so the second Saturday of July is the pattern. Gravenhurst is about 15 km south of Bracebridge and a natural base for the day: see the Gravenhurst page, the Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre page and the Residence Inn at Muskoka Wharf page for the wharf district.
Gravenhurst Autumn Arts Tour and the studio tours
The Gravenhurst Autumn Arts Tour ran on September 28 and 29 in 2024 and September 27 and 28 in 2025, so the last weekend of September is the usual slot; the town's event pages at gravenhurst.ca carry the current year's date. A separate Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour has traditionally run on September and early-October weekends, but we could not confirm its 2026 dates, so verify before you plan. Studio tours are the best use of hourly hire: studios are scattered, each visit is short, and a driver who keeps the route saves you from one more app. See the hourly chauffeur page.
Bala Cranberry Festival and the cranberry route
The Bala Cranberry Festival is the biggest single weekend of the fall. Discover Muskoka lists the 42nd festival for Friday October 16 to Sunday October 18, 2026, and describes it as running for more than 40 years, with an estimated attendance of over half a million since 1984. Bala is described as the cranberry capital of Ontario, home to the oldest cranberry farm in Ontario. The surrounding Muskoka Cranberry Route ran September 25 to October 18, 2026, with more than 45 stops across the district.
Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery in Bala offers a Bog to Bottle tour and a Cranberry Plunge during harvest, and tours there need separate booking. If you want to link the festival to a tasting day, our brewery and winery tours page shows how. The festival weekend sees more cars than the village roads were laid out for, so arrive early, plan the return before the evening rush and give the booker the exact drop point. See also the Bala page and the Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery page.
Fall colours, stars and Thanksgiving
October has more than cranberries. Discover Muskoka's "Muskoka: Home of the Stars" astro-tourism series ran October 16 to November 7, 2026, and the dark-sky site at Torrance Barrens has its own page: Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve. Our fall colours tour page explains how to see the colour without sitting in traffic, and the Thanksgiving and long weekends guide lays out the weekend's traffic pattern. Peak dates may carry a different cancellation deadline from the usual one, and it is printed on your confirmation.
Getting to a Muskoka event: modes compared
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private car from MuskokaLimousineServices.com | About 2 h 10 – 2 h 30 from Pearson to Bracebridge off-peak; allow 3 h 30 – 4 h summer Friday | Fixed fare via booker | Per vehicle class | Groups, evening events, late returns |
| Ontario Northland coach | About 3 h to Bracebridge or Huntsville plus a local leg | Published on ontarionorthland.ca | Coach bags | Daytime solo trips |
| FlixBus | Check booking page | Published at booking | Coach bags | Flexible solo trips |
| Northlander train (planned) | Proposed about 2 h 30 to Bracebridge | Fares not confirmed | Rail rules | Not yet running |
| Drive yourself | 2 h 15 off-peak | Fuel and parking | Your car | Households that want their own car |
The bus is the better choice for a solo daytime visit to one town. The car wins for an evening event, a group of three or more, a family with car seats, luggage that does not fit a coach, or a return after the last departure. The Toronto to Muskoka route page and the Toronto to Bracebridge page compare the modes in full.
Booking a car for an event weekend
Pick the vehicle by the plan. A Business SUV (up to 6 passengers, 6 bags), an Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz, up to 12 passengers, 12 bags) and a Jet Sprinter Executive (up to 7 passengers, 5 bags) cover most groups. A Stretch Limousine carries up to 8 with minimal luggage, a Stretch SUV Limousine up to 14 with 4 large bags and a Party Bus up to 14 with 2 large bags, and availability is confirmed at booking. Coaches of 20 to 56 seats are available on request for larger parties.
For a wedding weekend that overlaps a festival, read the wedding transportation planning guide. For corporate guests attending an event, the corporate retreat page explains accounts and monthly invoicing. And for the full list of what is on offer, browse the attractions hub.
Add every stop to one booking: pickup, event venue, a dinner stop and the return. Airport pickups (see the Pearson page) include flight tracking and 60 minutes of free waiting after international landings, 30 after domestic. Other pickups include 15 minutes. Child, toddler and booster seats are options, and you can ask the desk to keep your details private. Cancellation counts from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or no-show, 100%.
