Most Muskoka trips follow one of two shapes. Either you travel between Toronto and a Muskoka town, a route of 167 to 233 km on Highway 400 and Highway 11, or you leave Muskoka for another part of Ontario or Quebec, which is a longer, more varied drive. MuskokaLimousineServices.com is a pre-booked chauffeur service for both shapes. This hub is the single table that lists every route we have a page for, and a short briefing on how to choose the right one.
What are the main car service routes to and from Muskoka?
Six routes run between Toronto and the north: Muskoka overall, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Algonquin Park and Parry Sound, from about 169 km to 265 km. Six more run from Muskoka to Blue Mountain, Niagara Falls, York Region, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ottawa and Montreal.
The full list follows. Distances are rounded road distances from a routing tool; the Toronto routes start at Union Station, and the Muskoka routes start in Gravenhurst unless stated, because Gravenhurst is the first Highway 11 town. Other towns shift the number a little in either direction.

If you need the airport leg first, use the airport transfers hub and the flagship Toronto Pearson page. For the individual towns along these routes, the Muskoka hub lists them all.
Which route should I start with?
If you are coming from Toronto, the most useful single page is the Toronto to Muskoka route planner, because it compares every mode: driving, the coach, the proposed train and a private car. If you already know your town, go directly to its page:
- Gravenhurst: Toronto to Gravenhurst, the shortest transfer and the one the booker priced at 106 miles and 1 h 46 min at free-flowing speed from Pearson.
- Bracebridge: Toronto to Bracebridge, about 17 km beyond Gravenhurst.
- Huntsville and Lake of Bays: Toronto to Huntsville, the gateway to Deerhurst, Hidden Valley and Highway 60.
- Parry Sound and Georgian Bay: Toronto to Parry Sound, where Highway 400 continues north when Highway 11 turns off at Barrie.
- Algonquin Park: Toronto to Algonquin Park, which adds 43.6 km of Highway 60 beyond Huntsville to reach the West Gate, according to Ontario Parks.
If you are leaving Muskoka, find your destination in the table, and use the town pages for starting points that are not Gravenhurst.
What local road terms do visitors need to know?
Every route page uses a few terms that are not obvious to visitors from outside Ontario.
- Highway 400 and Highway 11. Highway 400 runs north from Toronto to Barrie and beyond to Parry Sound. Highway 11 splits off at Barrie and runs through Orillia, Washago, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Huntsville.
- Highway 407 ETR. An electronic toll road across the north of the Greater Toronto Area. It has no toll booths; it bills by licence plate or transponder. Highway 400 and Highway 11 are not tolled, and no Muskoka route requires the 407.
- Muskoka Road. A numbered district road, such as Muskoka Road 118 or 169, as opposed to a provincial Highway.
- Ontario 511. The province's road conditions service, at 511on.ca, showing closures, cameras and construction. The chauffeur checks it before winter departures, and so should you.
- Snow squalls. Georgian Bay lake-effect snow can cut visibility to near zero for short stretches of Highway 400 and Highway 11, even when Toronto is clear.
- Fire numbers. The local name for a rural 911 civic address, a number on a blue reflective sign. Give it to the chauffeur with the road name.
How does a private car compare with the bus, the train and a taxi on Toronto routes?
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-booked private car | 1 h 50 to 4 h, by town | Fixed fare via booker, quoted before you pay | 2 to 12 bags by class | Groups, cottage luggage, late flights, children, privacy |
| Ontario Northland coach | Check the schedule; add the airport-to-city leg | Public fare on the operator's site | One free checked bag under 23 kg; two more at $15 each as of 2026 | A solo traveller with light luggage to a Highway 11 town |
| Northlander train (proposed) | About 2 h 15 to Gravenhurst, 2 h 30 to Bracebridge | Fares not yet published | Not stated | Downtown Toronto starts once the service runs |
| Self-drive | Same as car plus parking | Fuel, rental | Whatever fits | Those who need a car all week |
| Local taxi | Minutes within a town | Metered | A few bags | Hops of five minutes or so |
The Northlander row relies on Ontario Northland's Northlander page, which says the train is not yet running and lists Washago, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Huntsville among its stops on a proposed timetable. The baggage figures are on its bus travel page, which also names Union Station, the 407 Vaughn Terminal, GO King City Station and Yorkdale as Toronto connection points.
For solo travellers going to Gravenhurst or Bracebridge on a weekday with light luggage, either is a reasonable option, and the train will be pleasant once it runs. The private car is better for three or more people, children with car seats, groceries and golf bags, late landings and any destination off the Highway 11 line.
What changes on the long routes to Ottawa and Montreal?
The long routes are a different decision. Our routing tool sends Muskoka to Ottawa along Highway 11 and Highway 60 through Algonquin Park. Ontario Parks runs that corridor and says day-use permits should be bought in advance, so check its permit rules before you plan a stop inside the park. Muskoka to Montreal is roughly 625 km from Gravenhurst, a full day by road.
For a solo traveller, an intercity train or a flight between Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal is usually the more sensible choice, since you would only need a car from the Muskoka town to the Toronto airport or station. A private car wins when there are three or more travellers, much luggage, a hard schedule, or a reason for a straight door-to-door trip. Check the individual pages: Muskoka to Ottawa and Muskoka to Montreal, with their airport equivalents on the Ottawa YOW page and the Montreal YUL page.
What other services use these routes?
- Long-distance car service for trips beyond Ontario's borders.
- Executive car service for business travellers on routine routes.
- Corporate retreat transportation for groups heading to resorts.
- Winter and ski transfers for Blue Mountain and Muskoka ski areas.
- Sprinter and group transportation for 7 to 12 passengers.

Is there a bus from Muskoka to Toronto?
Ontario Northland operates coaches, with Toronto connection points at Union Station, Yorkdale, the 407 Vaughn Terminal and GO King City Station. Check its schedule search for the Muskoka stop and time that suits you.

Do you do one-way trips as well as returns?
Yes. A booking can be one way, a return, multi-stop or hourly, and the booker quotes a single fixed fare for the exact trip before payment.
Do you drive outside Ontario?

What vehicles are available on long routes?
Sedans, SUVs, Sprinters, and on request coaches of 20 to 56 seats. See the fleet page. Mercedes-Maybach, stretch and party-bus classes are subject to availability confirmed at booking, and Rolls-Royce is on request through the reservations desk, with availability confirmed in writing.
How does cancellation work?
Counted back from the scheduled pickup, a booking is free to cancel beyond 72 hours, costs 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and the full amount at 24 hours or less or on a no-show. A holiday weekend can follow a different deadline, shown on the confirmation.
