Hidden Valley is two neighbours with a similar name, and a lot of search traffic confuses them. One is a resort of about 100 rooms on Peninsula Lake, the other is a ski hill on the slope beside it. MuskokaLimousineServices.com drives to both, and this page tells you which address goes in the booker, how the drive works in July and in January, and when the bus is the smarter way to get there.
How do I get to Hidden Valley Resort in Huntsville from Pearson?
Drive Highway 400 north to Highway 11, continue to Huntsville, take Highway 60 east to Deerhurst Canal Road and follow the resort signs. It is about 225 km from Pearson, 2 h 30 to 2 h 50 off-peak. A booked chauffeur car shows a fixed fare for that exact address before you pay.
Those are the resort's own directions in outline: its contact page tells guests to take Highway 400 north to Highway 11, then Highway 60 east, then turn right on Deerhurst Canal Road and follow the Hidden Valley Resort signs. The page describes the resort as about two hours north of Toronto and about half an hour from Algonquin Park. Two hours is a good day, and you should plan on two and a half.
The resort and the ski hill are different businesses
A booking mistake we see often: someone books a car to "Hidden Valley" and the chauffeur has two plausible addresses. They are close together, but not the same.
- Hidden Valley Resort, 1755 Valley Road, Huntsville. This is the hotel, with its own site at hvmuskoka.com. Its online booking links appear to route through Choice Hotels' Ascend Collection, which is why you may see it listed under that banner.
- Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area, 1655 Hidden Valley Road, Huntsville. This is the ski hill, run through the Muskoka Ski Club, which calls itself Muskoka's only ski hill. The resort says its guests can ski at the hill next door.
Tell the booker which one you mean, and if you are staying at the resort and skiing at the hill, book the resort as the drop-off and add the ski hill as a stop or a separate leg. Ski area staff, lift tickets and rentals are the hill's business, not ours, so contact the hill directly for them. If you are unsure, the postal code on third-party listings is inconsistent, which is another reason to enter the street address rather than rely on a code.
What Hidden Valley Resort offers
Per the resort's own site, as read in October 2026:
- About 100 rooms overlooking Peninsula Lake.
- An indoor pool and an outdoor pool.
- A beach where canoes, kayaks and other non-motorized watercraft are free to use.
- A full-service dining room and a lounge.
- The M Spa.
- Event and meeting facilities.
The page lists "Seasonal / Year Round" getaways but does not publish operating dates or a check-in time, so we cannot promise either. Confirm your dates with the resort before booking transport, then give the car booking a pickup time that lines up with the room being ready, not the other way round.
Drive times and distances to Hidden Valley
| From | Road distance | Off-peak time | Summer Friday, ski Friday or holiday |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | about 225 km | 2 h 30 – 2 h 50 | 3 h 45 – 4 h 15 |
| Downtown Toronto | about 220 km | 2 h 40 – 3 h | 3 h 45 – 4 h 30 |
| Muskoka Airport (YQA) near Gravenhurst | roughly 55 to 60 km | about 1 h | 1 h 15 |
| Downtown Huntsville | about 7 km | 10 minutes | 15 minutes |
| Algonquin Park (resort's own estimate) | about half an hour | 30 minutes | longer in fall colour season |
All values are rounded; the booker applies the distance for your pickup. The Toronto to Huntsville route page has the whole drive, and the Pearson page explains terminals. If you fly into the island airport, the Billy Bishop page applies.
How to get there: the mode comparison
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Drive yourself | 2 h 30 – 2 h 50 off-peak | fuel and parking | whatever fits | people who want a car on site |
| Coach to Huntsville, then a local ride | about 3 h plus the last 7 km | public fare, then a metered ride | one free checked bag on Ontario Northland, skis exempt from size limits | solo skiers travelling light |
| Northlander train (planned) | proposed 3 h 05 to Huntsville | not yet published | not yet published | a later season, once it runs |
| Fly to Muskoka Airport, then a car | flight plus about 1 h | fixed fare via booker for the car | airline rules | seasonal flights only |
| Pre-booked car | 2 h 30 – 2 h 50 off-peak | fixed fare via booker | 2 to 12 bags by class | families, ski groups, late arrivals |
For one skier with one bag and flexible timing, the coach plus a short local ride is the sensible choice. Ontario Northland's baggage rules exempt skis, snowboards and poles from its size limits, which makes the coach friendlier to skiers than most people expect. The Northlander page still describes the train as returning later this year, so do not plan a winter weekend around it yet. From the second traveller onward, with boots, helmets, kids and groceries, the private car is easier and the fare is fixed before you pay.
Hidden Valley Highlands: what we know about the ski season
The ski hill's story for 2026-27 is a work in progress, and honesty matters here.
- Usual season. Discover Muskoka says the hill typically opens in mid-December and runs until March Break, with three lifts and a beginner area. Other listings count a handle tow as a fourth lift and give 15 trails with a vertical of about 100 metres.
- Night skiing. Discover Muskoka lists Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Check the hill for current hours, because third-party listings differ by half an hour.
- Last season. The hill's site posted a "last day of the season" notice dated March 27, 2026, so the 2025-26 season is over.
- Next season. The hill's site shows a season pass sale and winter hiring notices but no published opening date for 2026-27 as of October 2026. We do not guess one.
- Weather. Snowmaking carries the hill, but opening days still depend on cold nights.
Any date you plan around should come from the hill itself. We will book the car when you have one. The hill's own site is where those announcements appear.
Winter transfers: what changes
A January trip to Huntsville is a different trip from a July one. The cold, the early dark and the snow squalls on Highway 11 all push the schedule. Leave a wider margin, expect the chauffeur to suggest an earlier departure if the forecast demands it, and check the Ontario 511 map. It rates winter driving conditions in four time windows from the next three hours to nine to twelve hours out, and shows snowplow locations. Winter tires are not required by law in Ontario, but they are the sensible default, and a chauffeur who drives these roads weekly will have them.
For ski gear, tell us what is coming when you book. Boot bags, helmets and ski bags eat space quickly, so pick a Business SUV for a family of up to six or an Executive Sprinter for a group of up to twelve. The stretch limousines and party bus have little luggage room, so they are not the choice for ski bags. The winter and ski transfers page goes through ski bags, evening departures and storm delays.
Ski and stay: the weekend pattern
The Discover Muskoka listing notes that the neighbouring resorts offer Ski and Stay packages. A typical group arrives Friday afternoon and leaves Sunday after skiing, which means your car faces the same rush as everyone else. The Friday afternoon northbound trip can take 3 h 45 or more on a ski weekend, and the Sunday evening southbound can be slower still. If your group has flexibility, a Friday-morning departure or a Saturday-morning arrival cuts the traffic risk. If it does not, book earlier and tell the chauffeur about the schedule so that the pickup time reflects reality.
Summer: the beach, the lake and Algonquin
In summer the draw is the beach, the canoes and kayaks that the resort says are free, the pools and the proximity to Algonquin Park. The park's West Gate is at kilometre 0 of the Highway 60 corridor, and the Visitor Centre is at kilometre 43. The resort's directions say Algonquin is about half an hour away. If you want a day in the park, our Algonquin Park tours page explains how a chauffeured day works, and the Toronto to Algonquin route page covers the longer approach.
Late nights, early flights and the long way home
Night skiing ends at 9:00 pm, which puts the first hour of the drive south in the dark and, in winter, possibly in snow. Most groups do not need to leave straight from the hill. A common plan is to ski the day, stay the night, and leave on Sunday morning so that the 215 km back to Pearson happens in daylight. If you must fly out early on Monday, we suggest leaving Huntsville by early afternoon on Sunday, and building a margin for the Highway 11 and Highway 400 queue that forms by mid-afternoon. A Sunday-night international flight is less forgiving still, because arrival at the airport has its own timeline. The chauffeur tracks your flight, so a delay changes the pickup rather than costing you the ride.
Meetings, retreats and small weddings
With event and meeting facilities on site, the resort suits small retreats and weddings. A group of 10 or 12 from a downtown Toronto office is a single Executive Sprinter, a group of 40 means coaches of 20 to 56 seats on request, and executives who prefer to arrive separately take SUVs. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing and multi-stop bookings are supported, and the corporate retreat page covers staging. If the event is a wedding, look at Muskoka wedding limo as well.
Nearby places we also cover
Deerhurst Resort is the next property along Peninsula Lake. Huntsville is about 10 minutes west, and Arrowhead Provincial Park lies north of town. Further afield are Baysville and Lake of Bays and Dorset. The resorts hub lists every property, and the Muskoka hub covers the region. Browse the fleet if you want to compare cars.
Frequently asked questions
What is the address of Hidden Valley Resort in Huntsville?
1755 Valley Road, Huntsville, Ontario, on Peninsula Lake. Its directions tell guests to take Highway 60 east from Highway 11 and turn right on Deerhurst Canal Road, following the signs. The ski hill is a separate address at 1655 Hidden Valley Road, so choose the right one in the booker.
Is Hidden Valley Resort the same as the ski hill?
No. The resort is a hotel with about 100 rooms, and Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area is a ski hill next door run through the Muskoka Ski Club. Guests of the resort can ski at the hill. Lift tickets and rentals are the ski hill's business, not ours.
How far is Hidden Valley Resort from Toronto Pearson?
About 225 km, usually 2 h 30 to 2 h 50 off-peak. On a Friday ski evening or a summer Friday afternoon allow 3 h 45 to 4 h 15, and book earlier on long weekends. The booker applies the exact distance for your pickup.
When does Hidden Valley Highlands open for the season?
It typically opens in mid-December and closes around March Break, according to Discover Muskoka. The hill's site showed a season pass sale and hiring notices but no confirmed 2026-27 opening date as of October 2026, so we cannot name one. Check the hill's own channels before you plan.
Can you take our skis and snowboards?
Yes, with notice. Put the gear in a note with the booking and choose an SUV or Sprinter with room. Boots, helmets and ski bags add up fast, and stretch limousines and the party bus have little luggage room.
Is there a bus to Hidden Valley Resort?
Not to the door. Ontario Northland and FlixBus serve Huntsville, and FlixBus lists a quickest trip from Toronto of 3 h 05 with a stop in the Holiday Inn parking lot on Howland Drive. From there it is about 7 km to the resort by a local ride.
Can I add Algonquin Park to the same trip?
Yes. Book a separate leg or hourly hire. The resort describes Algonquin as about half an hour away, and the park's day-use vehicle permit is bought separately from Ontario Parks, online or by phone, not in person. The car waits while you hike.
Is a booked car better than a taxi for a ski day?
For a short hop to the hill, a local taxi is fine. A booked car is better for the airport run, a group with gear, a late arrival, or a ride home after night skiing when the schedule matters. The fare is fixed and shown before you pay.
