Muskoka brewery tour by private car: how a tasting day works
A Muskoka brewery or winery tour with MuskokaLimousineServices.com is a pre-booked chauffeur-driven car, SUV or Sprinter that takes your group between tasting rooms while everyone enjoys themselves. You choose the stops, the pickup and the hours; the booker shows a fixed all-in fare first. There is no drinking in our vehicles (a bottle can still be added in the booker as a sealed gift), and nobody who is tasting drives.
Muskoka has five craft breweries according to Discover Muskoka's brewery and winery directory, a cranberry winery in Bala, and a spread of towns that sit 15 to 40 km apart on lake-country roads. That spacing is the entire problem. One person has to drive, one person has to be sober, and the best tasting room of the day is always the one furthest from the hotel.
The answer is to take the driving out of the group. A chauffeur collects you at the hotel or cottage, takes you to each stop, waits while you taste, and takes you home. This page lists the tasting rooms worth building a day around, how far apart they are, which vehicle suits which group, and how to book it.
The tasting rooms: what each one offers
These are the venues named by Discover Muskoka and their own sites. Hours change by season, so confirm before you go.
Muskoka Brewery, Bracebridge
The taproom is at 1964 Muskoka Beach Road, right off Highway 118. Its own taproom page says seating is first come, first served and no reservation is needed for ordinary visits, though large groups should contact the brewery in advance. Leashed dogs are allowed on the patio and in the taproom, children must be supervised, and the taproom, retail space and washrooms are wheelchair accessible. The retail shop sells beer to take home, including seasonal and taproom-exclusive releases. Guided tours run at select times of year and are arranged through the taproom, by phone or the website contact form. Discover Muskoka notes the brewery offers summer facility tours. A food truck operates on site in the warmer months, and the posted taproom hours run later Thursday to Saturday.
Sawdust City Brewing, Gravenhurst
Discover Muskoka places it beside the large yellow Muskoka chair in Gravenhurst, with an on-site restaurant called The Kitchen serving pub-style food. The brewery's own website has an hours and location page, which is the place to check opening times. Gravenhurst is about 15 km south of Bracebridge on Highway 11; the Gravenhurst page covers the town.
Lake of Bays Brewing, Baysville
Discover Muskoka describes a rustic taproom in Baysville. The brewery serves its beer at three locations according to the Muskoka Cranberry Route page, including a cranberry-flavoured beer during the fall. Baysville lies on Highway 117, on the Lake of Bays side; see the Baysville and Lake of Bays page.
Canvas Brewing, Huntsville
Discover Muskoka lists a taproom and an event space in Huntsville. Huntsville is about 34 km north of Bracebridge, and the Huntsville page has the town picture.
Clear Lake Brewing, Torrance
A taproom with food, in Torrance, with cabin stays available through the Muskoka Beer Spa on site, per Discover Muskoka. Torrance is also close to the Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve, so an evening tasting can lead to stargazing.
Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery, Bala
Listed at 1074 Cranberry Road in Bala, the farm is described as the only cranberry farm in the world with its own on-site winery. It is open most of the year, and its harvest season brings wagon tours and a cranberry plunge. The 2026 Sip n' Sounds music series ran on Sundays from June 28 to September 13, 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Our Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery page and the Bala page give the arrival details.
Muskoka Brewery also sells some spirits, but we could not confirm a stand-alone Muskoka distillery with regular visitor hours, so we do not list one. Ask the desk if a particular producer matters to your group.
Ways to organise a tasting day
| Option | Time on the road | Cost note | Capacity | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Designated driver in your own car | Your pace | Fuel and parking | Your car | Pairs, small groups with a volunteer |
| Local taxi between stops | Wait times vary | Metered | A few passengers | One short hop |
| Private car, Business SUV | Plan 60 – 90 min per stop plus drives | Fixed fare via booker, or hourly | Up to 6 passengers | Couples and small groups |
| Executive Sprinter | Same | Fixed fare via booker, or hourly | Up to 12 passengers | Corporate groups, friends' weekends |
| Stretch Limousine or Party Bus (availability confirmed at booking) | Same | Fixed fare via booker | Stretch up to 8, Stretch SUV Limousine up to 14, Party Bus up to 14; little luggage | Celebrations, bachelor and bachelorette days |
When is a taxi enough? When you are visiting one brewery with a short ride back to your hotel. When do you need a booked car? When there are three or more stops, when the group is larger than a taxi, when the stops are in different towns, or when you want one vehicle that waits and does not need to be hailed back at each tasting room.
Sample routes
These are suggestions, not fixed packages. The desk will build the sequence with you, and the distances are rounded road figures from a route planner.
| Day | Stops | Rough spacing |
|---|---|---|
| Bracebridge and Gravenhurst | Muskoka Brewery, then Sawdust City | about 15 km between towns |
| Huntsville and Baysville | Canvas Brewing, then Lake of Bays Brewing | Highway 11 to Highway 117 |
| Bala cranberry day | Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery, plus a nearby lunch stop | Bala lies west of Highway 11, on the lakes side |
| Torrance evening | Clear Lake Brewing, then the dark-sky preserve | Combine with a night sky visit |
Allow 60 to 90 minutes per stop. That gives time to taste, eat and browse the shop without watching the clock. A three-stop day with lunch is realistically five to six hours door to door.
How to book a brewery tour
Use the booker in one of two ways. For a straight sequence of stops, enter the pickup, add each stop as a waypoint and a return trip, and the fare is fixed for that exact route. For a flexible day, use the hourly mode, which keeps a car at your disposal while you decide how long to stay. The hourly chauffeur page explains when each makes sense.
Add a note with the booking listing the stops in your preferred order and any time you must be somewhere. If your group is large, tell the brewery in advance as well; Muskoka Brewery asks large groups to make contact before they arrive.
Alcohol, driving and the rules
There is no drinking in our vehicles (a bottle can still be added in the booker as a sealed gift). The point of the service is that the driver stays sober while everyone else tastes. The chauffeur drives, the group tastes, and bottles you buy at a brewery shop go home sealed and stowed with your luggage.
Ontario's open-container and liquor-in-vehicle rules sit in the Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019 and its regulations. We have not summarised the exceptions for limousines here because we could not verify them against the statute, so read the Act on the province's e-Laws site, or ask the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. If you want a sealed case of beer for the cottage, pack it in the luggage area, not on the seat beside you.
Getting to the starting point: from the airport or from Toronto
Many groups arrive from Toronto for the weekend. Pearson to Bracebridge is about 185 km, usually 2 h 10 to 2 h 30 off-peak, and the Pearson page covers pickups. A group of friends can land, be met inside arrivals, stop for groceries, and start with a tasting stop on the way to the cottage. The Toronto to Muskoka route page compares the modes.
If the airport is far from the first stop, plan the first tasting room as the bridge between flight and check-in, not as the destination. Free waiting at airports is 60 minutes after international landings and 30 after domestic ones, tracked from the flight.
Group sizes and the right vehicle
A couple or four friends fit a Business SUV (up to 6 passengers, 6 bags) or an Executive First Class SUV. A Mercedes E / S-Class carries up to 2. Ten to twelve people ride in an Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz), which carries 12 passengers and 12 bags. For celebrations, a Stretch Limousine carries up to 8, a Stretch SUV Limousine up to 14, and a Party Bus up to 14, but none of those three carries much luggage, and availability is confirmed at booking. The party bus and stretch limo page covers celebrations, and the Sprinter and group page covers the larger vehicles. For a corporate team day, see corporate retreat transportation.
Seasons: when each venue is at its best
Summer weekends are the busiest for the lake-side taprooms, and weekday visits mean quieter rooms. In the fall, the cranberry harvest changes Bala completely: Discover Muskoka's cranberry route ran from September 25 to October 18 in 2026, with more than 45 stops, and the Bala Cranberry Festival runs the weekend of October 16 to 18. The festivals and events page sets out how to fit the calendar into a tasting weekend. Winter is quiet, and taprooms keep shorter hours.
What is included in every booking
The fare is fixed and all-in, with HST included and nothing added at the end of the trip. A note with the booking, multi-stop trips and a return on the same booking are standard, and corporate accounts are invoiced monthly. You can ask the desk to keep your details private, and chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips. Cancellation counts from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or no-show, 100%. Peak dates may carry a different deadline, printed on the confirmation. Our services hub lists everything else we do.
Frequently asked questions
Can I book a driver for a Muskoka brewery tour?
Yes. Book a chauffeur-driven car, SUV or Sprinter with a pickup, the stops in order and a return. The booker shows the fixed all-in fare first. There is no drinking in our vehicles (a bottle can still be added in the booker as a sealed gift); the chauffeur stays sober and the group tastes.
Which Muskoka breweries can I visit in a day?
Discover Muskoka lists five: Muskoka Brewery in Bracebridge, Sawdust City in Gravenhurst, Canvas Brewing in Huntsville, Lake of Bays Brewing in Baysville and Clear Lake Brewing in Torrance. Two or three per day is realistic.
Is there a Muskoka wine tour?
Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery in Bala is the main one, a cranberry farm with its own on-site winery and harvest-season wagon tours. Check its hours and booking rules directly, and ask us to include it in a route.
Does the Muskoka Brewery offer tours?
Its taproom page says guided tours run at select times throughout the year, booked by phone or the website contact form. Discover Muskoka notes summer facility tours. Large groups should contact the brewery in advance.
Can we drink in the vehicle?
There is no drinking in our vehicles (a bottle can still be added in the booker as a sealed gift). Ontario's liquor-in-vehicle rules are in the Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019, and we have not verified exceptions for limousines. Keep purchases sealed and stowed, and read the Act or ask the AGCO.
How far apart are the Muskoka breweries?
Bracebridge to Gravenhurst is about 15 km, Bracebridge to Huntsville about 34 km and Bracebridge to Port Carling about 25 km. Bala, Baysville and Torrance are further along lake-country roads, so ask the desk for a sequence.
How much is a brewery tour car?
The booker shows a fixed all-in fare for a set route, or you can use hourly hire for a flexible day. The total is shown before you pay, with HST and all fees included.
Can you wait while we taste?
Yes. Free waiting on ordinary pickups is 15 minutes, so for a multi-stop tasting day use waypoints or hourly hire, which keeps the car with you between stops.
