MuskokaLimousineServices.com drives to Huntsville every week, and the first thing to say is what we are not. We are not a street taxi. There is no hailing, no meter and no cab idling outside the Main Street shops. If you typed "Huntsville taxi" into a search box because you need a five-minute hop from the town docks to a restaurant, a local cab is the sensible answer and we will say so again further down. If you need a chauffeur waiting at Pearson with your name on a board, a fixed fare agreed before you pay, and a car that gets you to Deerhurst or a cottage on Lake Vernon at the time you planned, read on.
Is there a pre-booked alternative to a Huntsville taxi?
Yes. MuskokaLimousineServices.com is a pre-booked chauffeur service for Huntsville: you choose the pickup, drop-off and vehicle in the online booker and see one fixed, all-inclusive fare before you pay. It runs 24 hours a day, tracks your flight, and covers airports, resorts, cottages and Algonquin day trips.
The fare is all-in, with the 13% HST included. Nothing is added at the kerb.
How far is Huntsville from Pearson and the other airports?
Huntsville is the northern anchor of the Muskoka Road 60 and Highway 11 corridor, about 49 km beyond Gravenhurst along the same highway. From Toronto Pearson the road distance is about 215 km, which is usually 2 h 20 to 2 h 40 off-peak. On a summer Friday afternoon, or the Sunday-evening return, allow 3 h 30 to 4 h because the whole cottage country crowd uses the same two highways.
| From | Road distance | Usual off-peak time | Busy-day allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | about 215 km | 2 h 20 – 2 h 40 | 3 h 30 – 4 h |
| Downtown Toronto | about 210 km | 2 h 30 – 2 h 50 | 3 h 30 – 4 h 15 |
| Gravenhurst town | about 49 km | 35 – 45 min | 1 h |
| Bracebridge | about 34 km | 25 – 30 min | 45 min |
Muskoka Airport sits at Gravenhurst, so a transfer from there is the Gravenhurst leg plus a few kilometres. Distances are rounded route-planner figures. Your exact pickup and drop-off decide the final number, and the booker shows the distance it used. Our Pearson to Muskoka page explains terminals and pickup points, and the Toronto to Huntsville route page lays out the whole drive exit by exit.
Where do we pick up and drop off in Huntsville?
Huntsville runs from Highway 11 on the west through Main Street to the Peninsula Lake resort district on the east. A few addresses come up constantly:
- Main Street and the Visitor Centre. The Town of Huntsville's Visitor Centre is at 37 Main Street East, at the same address as Town Hall. It is the easiest meeting point if you are arriving for a theatre night or a walking tour.
- The Town Docks. Summer concerts and boat arrivals happen at the waterfront at the foot of Main Street. A car can wait on the side street while you load.
- Highway 11 bus stop. Ontario Northland's station finder lists a Huntsville bus stop with a Main Street West postal code (P1H 1W5) and no street address. FlixBus uses a different spot, the Holiday Inn parking lot at 100 Howland Drive. Check your own ticket, because stop details change.
- Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. The site is at 100 Frank Miller Drive. The emergency department is open around the clock, and we can book rides for appointments, discharges and visitors.
- Cottage roads. Muskoka cottages are found by fire number, a small reflective sign at the end of the driveway. Give us the number and the road name together, and add the lake. The chauffeur uses both.
If the pickup is a private dock or a lane the GPS does not know, use a note with the booking.
Huntsville taxi or pre-booked car: an honest comparison
A taxi and a pre-booked chauffeur solve different problems, and Huntsville has room for both. The table below is how we would choose if the trip were ours.
| Situation | Better choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Five-minute hop inside town, no luggage | Local taxi | Metered, immediate, no planning |
| Pearson arrival, 2 h 20 and 215 km | Pre-booked car | Flight tracked, chauffeur inside arrivals, fare fixed |
| Late flight, last coach already gone | Pre-booked car | The car is dispatched for your landing time |
| Four adults, six bags, groceries from the LCBO | Business SUV | Up to 6 passengers and 6 bags |
| Wedding party moving between two venues | Sprinter or stretch | One booking, multiple stops, a printed schedule |
| Solo traveller, one bag, flexible schedule | Bus | Cheapest public option, about 3 h |
| Day trip to Algonquin with a hiking stop | Hourly hire | The car waits, the permit stays valid |
The LCBO is Ontario's provincial liquor and wine retailer, where many cottage groups stop on the way in. Add it as an extra stop on the same booking. Our Muskoka taxi alternative page goes deeper on when each option wins.
Resorts on Peninsula Lake: Deerhurst, Hidden Valley and Trillium
Most visitors who ask for a Huntsville limo are headed east of town to the Peninsula Lake resorts. Deerhurst Resort sits at 1235 Deerhurst Drive, on a property that its own site describes as 760 acres on Peninsula Lake with 400 guest accommodations and 40,000 square feet of function space. Hidden Valley Resort is at 1755 Valley Road, overlooking the same lake and next to the Hidden Valley Highlands ski hill. Discover Muskoka also lists Trillium Resort and Spa among Huntsville's resorts.
For a resort arrival, the practical question is time rather than distance. Check-in times vary by property and season, and the resort desk is the authority on them, so book the car around your confirmed check-in. For conferences and weddings, the group section below explains how we stage several vehicles.
Arrowhead, Algonquin and the winter ski hill
Huntsville is the starting point for three outdoor trips that visitors tend to underplan:
- Arrowhead Provincial Park, 7 km north of the centre of town via Muskoka Road 3, takes about ten minutes. It has a 1.3 km Ice Skating Trail in winter, with Fire and Ice evening skates by reservation. Our Arrowhead Provincial Park page has the details.
- Algonquin Provincial Park is reached by taking Highway 60 east from Huntsville. The park's West Gate is at kilometre 0 of the Highway 60 corridor and the Visitor Centre is at kilometre 43. See the Algonquin Park tours page and the Toronto to Algonquin route page.
- Hidden Valley Highlands, the ski hill next to the resorts, usually opens in mid-December and runs to March Break, with night skiing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings according to Discover Muskoka.
Winter tires are not compulsory in Ontario the way they are in Quebec, but they matter on Highway 11 when a snow squall rolls in. Our winter and ski transfers page covers ski bags and weather delays.
The Huntsville events calendar and how it changes demand
Huntsville's busy dates are predictable. The Huntsville Festival of the Arts, now in its 34th season, programs the Algonquin Theatre across the summer, and the Thursday Dancing on the Docks series at the Town Docks ran from July 2 to August 13 in 2026. Discover Muskoka describes the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery as more than 100 mural re-creations around town, with guided tours in July and August. Muskoka Heritage Place at 88 Brunel Road has its last pioneer village day of 2026 on October 10, and its museum moves to Tuesday-to-Saturday hours from October 17.
Fall brings Sandhill Nursery's Fall Festival and stargazing nights, and late November through December is the holiday season, including the Portage Flyer Christmas train at Heritage Place. Reserve early, because rooms, tables and cars tighten together. The Muskoka festivals and events page tracks the wider calendar.
Hospital runs, appointments and discharge pickups
Huntsville District Memorial Hospital, part of Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare, is at 100 Frank Miller Drive and runs a 24-hour emergency department. People travel here from Dorset, Baysville and Port Sydney for appointments. A pre-booked car suits scheduled visits and discharge runs because the pickup time is set around the appointment. We are not an ambulance or a medical transport service, and anything urgent is a call to 911.
Bus, train and flight options for Huntsville
Public options exist and are worth knowing, whether you choose them or not.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ontario Northland coach from Toronto | about 3 h plus transfers | fare set by Ontario Northland | one checked bag free, under 23 kg | solo travellers on a schedule |
| FlixBus from Toronto | quickest trip 3 h 05 | from about $37 as of 2026 | one carry-on and one checked bag | solo travellers on flexible dates |
| Northlander train (proposed) | about 3 h 05 | not yet published | not yet published | rail fans, once service starts |
| Fly to Muskoka Airport, then drive | flight plus about 50 km | fixed fare via booker for the drive | airline rules | seasonal flights, when scheduled |
| Pre-booked MuskokaLimousineServices.com car | 2 h 20 – 2 h 40 off-peak | fixed fare via booker | 2 to 12 bags by vehicle | groups, luggage, late arrivals, resorts |
Ontario Northland's own page describes the Northlander as returning later this year, with proposed Toronto-to-Huntsville times of about 3 h 05 and no confirmed launch date. It is not running as we write in October 2026, so do not plan a trip around it yet. Our Northlander train guide will be updated when service starts.
The bus is the better choice for one traveller with one bag who does not mind a fixed departure time. The private car wins from the second traveller onward, as soon as groceries, kids, car seats or a late landing are involved, and any time the last coach is already gone.
Groups, weddings and corporate retreats
Huntsville is a retreat town. Corporate groups gather at Peninsula Lake for off-sites, and families gather for weddings and long weekends. The classes below are the ones we assign most often.
| Party | Vehicle class | Capacity |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 travellers, 2 large bags | Executive Sedan | up to 3 passengers |
| 1 or 2 travellers, executive | Mercedes E / S-Class | up to 2 passengers, 2 bags |
| Family of 5 or 6, cottage luggage | Business SUV or Executive First Class SUV | up to 6 passengers, 6 bags |
| 7 to 12 guests with luggage | Executive Sprinter | up to 12 passengers, 12 bags |
| 7 guests, executive comfort | Jet Sprinter Executive | up to 7 passengers, 5 bags |
| Wedding party, light luggage | Stretch Limousine, Stretch SUV Limousine or Party Bus | up to 8, 14 or 14, with minimal, 4 large or 2 large bags |
Models are "or similar" and confirmed at booking. Mercedes-Maybach, stretch and party bus availability is confirmed at booking, and a Rolls-Royce is on request through the reservations desk, availability confirmed in writing. Coaches from 20 to 56 seats are available on request. For retreats, our corporate retreat transportation page explains staging arrivals, and for ceremonies see Muskoka wedding limo. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing are available, and one booking can carry multi-stop and return legs. Child, toddler and booster seats are booker options, and pets travel in a carrier once you tell the desk when you book (see child seats and family travel).
Neighbouring towns we also serve
From Huntsville the closest destinations are Baysville and Lake of Bays, Port Sydney and Utterson, Dorset and Bracebridge. Further south, Gravenhurst hosts the Muskoka Airport side of the region. The full town list is on the Muskoka hub, and airport transfers lists every airport we cover., plus routes and services.
How booking works, in four steps
- Open the booker and enter the pickup, drop-off, date and time.
- Pick the vehicle class and options: meet and greet inside arrivals, child seats, extra stops, a return trip.
- Read the fixed all-in total, then pay by card.
- Receive your confirmation. Flight tracking starts automatically on airport pickups, with 60 minutes free waiting after international landings, 30 after domestic and 15 on other pickups.
Cancellation is counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice no charge, 72 hours or less 10%, 48 hours or less 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%. Peak dates, such as long weekends and big weddings, may carry a different deadline printed on your confirmation. Our how private car fares work guide explains how the total is built.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a taxi in Huntsville I can book for the airport?
Local cabs serve the town, but a 215 km airport run is not a meter job. MuskokaLimousineServices.com is the pre-booked option: pick the airport and vehicle in the booker, see one fixed fare before you pay, and your flight is tracked so the car matches your landing.
How long does it take to drive from Pearson to Huntsville?
About 215 km, usually 2 h 20 to 2 h 40 off-peak. On a summer Friday afternoon or a holiday Sunday evening allow 3 h 30 to 4 h, because Highway 400 and Highway 11 carry most of the cottage traffic. Check 511on.ca before you leave for closures and cameras.
Is there a bus from Huntsville to Toronto?
Yes. Ontario Northland and FlixBus both serve Huntsville. FlixBus lists a quickest trip of 3 h 05 and tickets from about $37 as of 2026, with its stop in the Holiday Inn parking lot at 100 Howland Drive. Ontario Northland's stop is listed on Main Street West. Check your ticket for the current stop.
Does the Northlander train stop in Huntsville?
It is planned to. Ontario Northland's proposed schedule shows a Huntsville stop with about 3 h 05 to Toronto's Union Station, but the service is described as returning later this year and had no confirmed launch date when we checked in October 2026. Treat the times as proposed, not final.
Can you take me from Huntsville to Algonquin Park and wait?
Yes, with hourly hire. The car stays with you for the hike, and Highway 60 gets you to the West Gate. The park's day-use vehicle permit is bought separately from Ontario Parks, online or by phone, and is not sold in person. Our Algonquin page walks through the sequence.
Can the car take us to Arrowhead's skating trail?
Yes. Arrowhead is about 7 km from the middle of Huntsville. The Ice Skating Trail runs mid-January to mid-March, weather permitting, and Fire and Ice evenings need a permit reserved up to five days ahead. You book the park entry; we handle the ride.
Do you pick up at the hospital?
Yes. Huntsville District Memorial Hospital at 100 Frank Miller Drive is a normal pickup or drop-off. We provide a pre-booked ride, not medical transport, so call 911 for emergencies. Add a note with the booking if you need the nearest door or a specific entrance.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track the flight, so a delay moves the pickup with it. After an international landing you get 60 minutes of free waiting, 30 after a domestic one, and 15 minutes on other pickups. Meet and greet inside arrivals is a booker option, and your chauffeur waits with a name board.
