Oshawa Executive Airport is not where most Muskoka visitors land, and it is not trying to be. It is a general aviation airport with a control tower, an all-hours fixed base operator, charter and training flights, and no airline timetable. If you are arriving there, you most likely chartered, own the aircraft, or have a flight school or corporate connection. MuskokaLimousineServices.com meets those arrivals and drives them north to Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville and the lakes.
The distances are favourable. Oshawa Executive Airport is about 125 km from Gravenhurst and a little over two hours, which is shorter than the run from Toronto Pearson and avoids the Highway 400 funnel entirely.
How do you get from Oshawa Executive Airport to Muskoka?
Pre-book a chauffeured car. From the airport the usual road is Highway 7 and Highway 12 north through Beaverton to Simcoe County Road 169 and Highway 11. Gravenhurst is about 125 km and 2 h off-peak, Bracebridge about 141 km and Huntsville about 175 km. You see one all-inclusive fare in the booker before paying.
Because charter times are set by the operator, the pickup is usually tied to an aircraft's actual arrival. Give the booker your tail number or flight details so the chauffeur can follow the arrival.
Distances from YOO to Muskoka
| From YOO to | Road distance | Typical time off-peak | Main road |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gravenhurst | about 125 km | about 2 h | Highway 12, County Road 169, Highway 11 |
| Bracebridge | about 141 km | about 2 h 15 | Highway 12, Highway 11 |
| Huntsville | about 175 km | about 2 h 40 | Highway 12, Highway 11 |
| Port Carling, Bala, Rosseau | confirmed at booking | confirmed at booking | Highway 11, then Muskoka roads |
An alternative north from the airport follows Durham Region roads and Highway 48 to Highway 12 and adds about 10 km. The chauffeur chooses between the two on the day, based on road work and traffic. To see each town, use the Muskoka hub.
What Oshawa Executive Airport is, and what it is not
The City of Oshawa describes the airport on its official airport page. The address is 1200 Airport Boulevard. It offers a full-service fixed base operator open around the clock, a Nav Canada control tower, flight training, air ambulance, passenger charter, freight, aerial police operations and maintenance, and more than 350,000 square feet of hangar space.
Two lines on that page matter for planning. First, there are no scheduled passenger flights from Oshawa and no plans for any. Second, the page does not mention customs services, so if your aircraft arrives from outside Canada, ask your FBO about clearance before you book the ground leg. We do not make assumptions about it.
That makes this a very different transfer from the airline airports on our airport transfers hub. The pickup point, the waiting arrangements and the privacy needs are all set by the aircraft operator, not a terminal.
Meeting you at the FBO
The chauffeur meets you at the point the FBO allows. Tell the booker which FBO or operator you are using, the aircraft's arrival time and any gate or ramp instruction. A note with the booking is the right place for a contact number at the FBO.
What you can rely on:
- Flight tracking is on every airport pickup, so a chartered aircraft that lands early or late moves the chauffeur rather than the booking.
- Free waiting time is 30 minutes after a domestic landing and 60 minutes after an international landing, counted from landing.
- Meet and Greet service is a booker add-on, with a name board and an alias if you prefer.
- Privacy: ask the desk to keep your details private, and NDAs are available on request.
- Security. Our chauffeurs are not security officers, though a VIP security guard can be added in the booker; the service also works alongside a client's own security team, and chauffeurs do not photograph clients or post about trips.
Our private jet and FBO transfers page covers this style of pickup in more depth, and the executive car service page covers corporate use.
The road north: Highway 12 and Highway 11
From the airport the road heads north on a mix of regional roads to Highway 7, then Highway 12 across farm country and along the Lake Simcoe side. It passes through Beaverton on the lake, and continues towards Simcoe County Road 169 and Highway 11 at the south end of Muskoka.
Three practical notes.
- It is a two-lane route. A slow tractor or a summer convoy changes the clock.
- The Highway 11 junction is where cottage traffic builds. A Friday afternoon in July is not the time to be on the last 30 km. Our Highway 400 and Highway 11 guide shows what that looks like.
- Winter. Ontario 511 shows winter road conditions, closures, construction and snowplow positions, and the chauffeur checks it before departure.
If your destination is Gravenhurst, you reach the town from the south without ever touching the Highway 400 and 11 corridor, which is why this route can win on a holiday weekend. See Gravenhurst and Bracebridge.
Oshawa to Muskoka without a private car
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private chauffeured car | about 2 h to 2 h 40 | fixed fare via booker | per vehicle class | charter passengers, executives, groups |
| Fly on to Muskoka Airport | depends on the operator | charter cost set by the operator | per aircraft | private-aircraft owners |
| GO Transit to Toronto, then an Ontario Northland coach | most of a day | separate public fares | carry-on friendly | solo travellers with no aircraft |
| Rental car | about 2 h plus the counter queue | rental rate plus fuel | whatever fits your boot | drivers who know the roads |
The honest point is that this is rarely a bus or train situation; Ontario Northland publishes its coach lines on its website, but none starts at an airfield. A passenger who stepped off a charter at Oshawa Executive Airport is not going to take a multi-leg public journey, and a coach from the airport does not exist. If you can instead land the aircraft closer to your destination, read the Muskoka Airport page before deciding.
When a private car is the right answer
- Charter passengers who need to land at one place and arrive at another in comfort.
- Corporate teams arriving together. A Jet Sprinter Executive carries up to 7 passengers with 5 bags, and an Executive Sprinter up to 12 with 12 bags.
- Luggage. A Business SUV or Executive First Class SUV carries up to 6 passengers and 6 bags.
- Families. Child seat, toddler seat and booster seat options are in the booker.
- Pets. Tell the desk about a pet when you book; a pet rides in a carrier, and a trained service animal travels free.
- Resort arrivals. The chauffeur drives to the guest entrance, and the resorts hub lists the properties.
- Weddings. Guests arriving by private aircraft can be matched to the schedule on the Muskoka wedding limo page.
What to put in the booker for a private-aircraft pickup
A charter pickup is simple when the chauffeur has the right five facts. Enter them in the booker or in a note with the booking, and the desk can confirm the rest.
- The operator or FBO name, so the chauffeur knows which building and which door.
- The aircraft's registration or flight number, for tracking.
- Passenger and bag count. Bags that came off an aircraft are often soft-sided and numerous, and the vehicle class is chosen from the count, not the weight.
- A contact number for the person travelling, which the desk will keep private if you ask.
- The exact Muskoka destination, with the fire number for a cottage (the numbered sign at the end of the lane that emergency services use in place of a street address) or the name of the resort entrance.
That is all the chauffeur needs. Nothing about your itinerary has to be shared beyond the pickup and drop-off.
A sample day: charter in, cottage by supper
Picture a four-person party landing at Oshawa Executive Airport at 15:30 with six bags, bound for a Lake Rosseau cottage. The chauffeur follows the arrival, meets the group at the FBO, loads a Business SUV, and takes Highway 12 and Highway 11 north. A route planner suggests about two and a half hours to the Muskoka lakes, so a stop for groceries in Gravenhurst or Bracebridge, where the shops are, puts the group at the cottage at dusk. In October, that is a sensible plan. In midsummer on a Friday, the same landing would face the northbound cottage traffic on Highway 11, and the chauffeur may advise leaving the airport earlier or holding for a quieter window. Ask the desk before the flight, not after.
Going the other way: Muskoka to Oshawa Executive Airport
For a departure from the FBO, the operator sets the wheels-up time and the aircraft does not wait for traffic. Plan the pickup from the lake country to arrive at least an hour before departure, and more for a larger party. In winter, and on holiday Sundays when everyone is heading south, add more.
Tell the desk the operator, the departure time and the party size. The return leg can be added to the same booking as the arrival, with a fixed fare for each.
Groups, golf and corporate itineraries
Executive groups use this transfer for retreats, golf weekends and board meetings in the lakes. The corporate retreat transportation page covers the planning, and the golf transportation page covers courses. Corporate accounts can be invoiced monthly, and the travel desk coordinates itineraries that include multiple stops.
For travellers coming from Pearson instead, the Toronto Pearson page has the full comparison, and the routes hub lists every long-distance run.
Fare, extras and cancellation
Charter clients tend to want a number before anything else, and the booker gives one: a single all-inclusive total for your pickup at the field, your Muskoka drop-off and the vehicle class. HST is included, and nothing is added at the end of the trip. If you want the mechanics, the guide to private car fares has them.
On changes, the notice period is counted from the scheduled pickup. Give more than 72 hours and you pay nothing. Between 72 and 48 hours the charge is 10%, between 48 and 24 hours it is 50%, and under 24 hours, or if the party does not appear, it is 100%. Peak dates can have a different deadline, printed on your confirmation. Because an aircraft schedule can shift, tell the desk early if your wheels-down time moves by a day.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Oshawa Executive Airport from Gravenhurst?
About 125 km by Highway 7, Highway 12, County Road 169 and Highway 11, a little over two hours off-peak. Bracebridge is about 141 km and Huntsville about 175 km. It is closer than Toronto Pearson, and it avoids the Highway 400 funnel.
Are there scheduled flights at Oshawa Executive Airport?
No. The City of Oshawa states there are no scheduled passenger flights and no plans for any. The airport handles charter, flight training, air ambulance, freight and private aircraft. Passengers arriving there are travelling on a chartered or private aircraft.
Can the chauffeur meet me at the FBO?
Yes. Tell the booker which FBO or operator you are using, the arrival time and any ramp instruction. The chauffeur meets you at the point the FBO allows, follows the aircraft's arrival time, and waits within the free waiting time.
Is there customs at Oshawa Executive Airport?
The City of Oshawa's airport page does not mention customs. If your aircraft is arriving from outside Canada, confirm clearance arrangements with your FBO or operator before booking the ground leg. We can then set the pickup after clearance.
Can I fly directly to Muskoka instead?
Often, yes, if your aircraft and operator allow it. Muskoka Airport at Gravenhurst is closer to your destination, and our Muskoka Airport page covers it. Oshawa remains useful if your aircraft is based in the east end of the Greater Toronto Area.
What vehicle should I choose for a team of six?
A Business SUV or Executive First Class SUV carries up to six passengers with six bags. For seven, a Jet Sprinter Executive carries up to seven with five bags. Eight to 12 need an Executive Sprinter, which carries up to 12 passengers and 12 bags.
Does the car have child seats?
Child seats can be added in the booker. Choose them when you book, and mention the child's age and weight in a note with the booking so the right seat is installed before pickup.
What does a charter-passenger transfer cost?
Choose the airfield as the pickup, enter your Muskoka address and the vehicle class, and the booker shows one all-inclusive total, 13% HST included, before payment. Because there is no meter, waiting for a late aircraft within the free time does not change it.
