How do you get to Muskoka golf courses without driving?
Pre-book a chauffeured vehicle sized for your golf bags. Pearson to Gravenhurst is about 170 km, usually just over two hours off-peak. A Business SUV takes six passengers and six bags, an Executive Sprinter takes twelve and twelve, and MuskokaLimousineServices.com shows one fixed all-inclusive fare before you pay.
Muskoka golf is a landscape of granite, pine and water, and most of the courses are built into it, which means they are not on a main road. A golf trip here involves three kinds of movement: arriving from the airport or Toronto, getting between a resort and a course, and getting home at the end of the day. Done with rental cars, each of them has a driver who would rather be on the tee. Done with a chauffeur, it is one booking, and the person who knows the roads is not the person with the clubs.
This page covers the courses we are asked about most, the distances between them, and the bag arithmetic that decides which vehicle you need.
The courses people ask about
The details below are the ones the courses and resorts publish on their own sites. Confirm tee times, season dates and access with each course directly.
| Course or resort | Where | What its own site says | Road distance from Pearson |
|---|---|---|---|
| Muskoka Bay Resort Golf Club | 1217 North Muldrew Lake Road, Gravenhurst | Doug Carrick design; resort and public play, public tee times through Chronogolf; lessons with PGA of Canada pros | about 170 km |
| Taboo Muskoka | 1209 Muskoka Beach Road, Gravenhurst | A resort on Lake Muskoka with a golf section; formerly Muskoka Sands | about 170 km |
| Deerhurst Highlands and Deerhurst Lakeside | Deerhurst Resort, 1235 Deerhurst Drive, Huntsville | Two golf courses listed by the resort | about 230 km |
| Rocky Crest Golf Resort | 20 Barnwood Drive, MacTier, on Lake Joseph | Listed by Discover Muskoka as a golf resort | about 200 km |
| The Rock | Minett, near JW Marriott The Rosseau | Third-party listings give it as the course near the resort, about five minutes away | about 230 km |
Muskoka Bay Resort says its course is about 90 minutes north of Toronto, and ranks among the leading courses in Canada according to Golf Digest; its golf page has the details. Deerhurst Resort's own site names its two courses, and Taboo Muskoka's site has its golf section. Each has a page here: Muskoka Bay Resort, Deerhurst Resort, Taboo Muskoka and Rocky Crest Resort. The Rock is listed near JW Marriott The Rosseau, which has its own page.
Distances between courses
Multi-course trips are where a driver pays for himself. These are rounded road distances from a route planner, with typical off-peak times.
| From | To | Road distance | Typical off-peak |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gravenhurst (Muskoka Bay) | Deerhurst, Huntsville | about 60 km | about 55 min |
| Gravenhurst | Minett (Lake Rosseau) | about 60 km | about 1 h 15 |
| Gravenhurst | MacTier (Rocky Crest) | about 50 km | about 1 h |
| Pearson | Gravenhurst | about 170 km | 2 h to 2 h 15 |
| Pearson | MacTier | about 200 km | 2 h 30 to 2 h 40 |
A round at one course and a round at another the next day is easy; two courses in one day, 60 km apart, is a long day of driving and not much golf. Pick courses within an hour of each other and use the afternoon to rest.
The bag arithmetic
A golf bag is awkward in a way a suitcase is not: long, heavy and not stackable. The bag capacity of each vehicle class is the number to plan on, and the safe assumption is that a golf bag takes one bag space, a suitcase takes another, and an oversized travel case may take more. Say what you are bringing in a note with the booking.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Bags | Golfers with a golf bag and a suitcase each | Golfers with a golf bag only |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Executive Sedan | up to 3 | 2 large | 1 | 2 |
| Mercedes E / S-Class | up to 2 | 2 | 1 | 2 |
| Business SUV | up to 6 | 6 | 3 | 6 |
| Executive First Class SUV | up to 6 | 6 | 3 | 6 |
| Jet Sprinter Executive | up to 7 | 5 | 2 | 5 |
| Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter) | up to 12 | 12 | 6 | 12 |
A foursome flying in with a golf bag and a suitcase each has eight pieces. That is more than the Business SUV's six, so the right vehicle is an Executive Sprinter (12 bags) or two vehicles. A foursome driving up from Toronto with golf bags only has four pieces and fits the SUV comfortably. For an eight-person trip with a bag and a suitcase each, that is sixteen pieces and two vehicles, or a Sprinter plus an SUV.
These figures are planning figures, not guarantees. If you are carrying a hard-sided travel case, a staff bag or a set with a large cover, choose the next vehicle up and put the details in the booker. The Sprinter and group page works through the same arithmetic for non-golf groups.
A one-day and a two-day plan
One day, from Toronto. A foursome leaves Toronto early for a morning tee time in Gravenhurst, plays, has lunch and returns. About 170 km each way; allow two hours or more each direction. Book a return trip on one booking and tell the chauffeur the tee time and the expected finish. The vehicle waits, which is where hourly hire helps; see the hourly chauffeur page.
Two days, based in Muskoka. Arrive at Pearson on Friday, stay at a resort, play one course on Saturday and another on Sunday, return Sunday evening. Book the airport arrival, a transfer to each course, and the airport return. Our Pearson page covers the airport end.
Corporate outings. If the golf is part of a retreat, the corporate retreat transportation page explains how to manage waves of arrivals alongside the tee sheet.
Timing a tee time
Golf is the most punctual of all hobbies and the least forgiving of lateness, so plan backward from the tee time.
- Set the tee time first. Courses publish theirs; at Muskoka Bay, public tee times are booked through Chronogolf.
- Allow a warm-up window. A reasonable plan is to arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the tee time, which gives time for the practice area and the pro shop.
- Add the road. Use the distances above and add a buffer on summer weekends. The Highway 400 and 11 traffic guide shows the slow hours.
- Plan for weather. A rain delay changes the finish, not the start. Hourly hire absorbs it; a fixed return time does not.
Flights are tracked on every airport pickup, so a late landing moves the car, not the tee time. If a 7 am flight and an 11 am tee time are both in your plan, tell the chauffeur and the booker will build the schedule around them.
The ride home
The unspoken benefit of a chauffeur on a golf day is that nobody has to decide whether to drive after the 19th hole. There is no drinking in our vehicles (a bottle can still be added in the booker as a sealed gift); what the car provides is a driver, a quiet seat and a fixed return time. The decision about drinks stays at the clubhouse.
Flying in to play
Many golfers fly. Pearson to Gravenhurst is about 170 km. Air Canada's release lists non-stop Landline coach trips between Pearson and Muskoka Airport from 15 June 2026, with the airport just outside Gravenhurst. If your ticket includes it, the coach covers the long leg, though a car is still needed from the airport to the course, and golf bags will be subject to airline baggage rules. Our Muskoka Airport page describes the arrival from the airport side.
Golf transportation compared with the alternatives
| Mode | Door-to-door, Pearson to Gravenhurst | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chauffeured SUV or Sprinter | About 2 h to 2 h 15 | Fixed fare via booker | 6 or 12 bags | Foursomes and larger groups with bags |
| Air Canada Landline coach | 1 h 45 to 2 h 15 to Muskoka Airport | Sold as an Air Canada itinerary | Airline baggage rules | An individual on an Air Canada ticket |
| Ontario Northland bus | See the operator's timetable | Fares on ontarionorthland.ca | 114 cm maximum length per checked bag | One golfer with a short bag |
| Rental car | About 2 h off-peak | Rental, fuel, parking | Your boot | Golfers who want a car at the lake |
Ontario Northland's baggage rules give a 114 cm maximum length for a checked bag, so a golf travel case should be measured before you rely on the bus. The bus is the better choice for a single golfer with a compact setup, near a stop. For three or more travellers, with full-size bags, with a connecting flight or a tee time that does not fit the timetable, the private vehicle wins.
Season, closures and the road
Muskoka courses are seasonal, and their opening dates and conditions change from year to year, so confirm with each course. The road changes too: Highway 11 has construction and closures in some summers, and winter has its own conditions. The free Ontario 511 site and app show traffic, cameras and closures. For shoulder-season trips, our winter and ski transfers page explains how we approach slower roads.
Booking golf transportation
Enter the pickup, the course or resort as drop-off, the date, the passengers and the bags in the booker. Add stops for the second course or the hotel, add the return to the same booking, and use a note with the booking to say what you are carrying. The total is one fixed, all-in fare with HST included.
Frequently asked questions
Do golf bags fit in your vehicles?
Yes, within the bag capacity of each class: two in an Executive Sedan, six in a Business SUV, twelve in an Executive Sprinter. Plan on a golf bag taking one bag space, and put oversized cases in a note with the booking.
What vehicle do four golfers need?
Four golf bags alone fit a Business SUV, which has six bag spaces. Four golf bags plus four suitcases make eight pieces, which needs an Executive Sprinter or two vehicles. A foursome driving up from Toronto for the day usually needs only the SUV.
How far is Muskoka Bay Resort from Pearson?
About 170 km by road, usually 2 h to 2 h 15 off-peak, and around 3 h 30 on a summer Friday afternoon. The club is at 1217 North Muldrew Lake Road, Gravenhurst, and its own site describes it as about 90 minutes north of Toronto.
Can you take us between two courses in a day?
Yes, with multi-stop or hourly hire. Choose courses within an hour of each other; Deerhurst in Huntsville, for example, is roughly an hour from Gravenhurst. Two courses in a day on opposite sides of the district is a lot of driving, so plan one round and a rest.
Can the car wait for the round to finish?
Yes. Hourly hire covers the wait, and the return can sit on the same booking. Put the tee time and the likely finish in a note with the booking, and add a margin for slow play or a weather delay so the car is not hurried.
Can I book the airport run and the golf transfers together?
Yes. Put the airport pickup, the transfers to each course and the airport return on one multi-stop booking. The airport leg includes flight tracking and free waiting of 60 minutes after international landings and 30 after domestic ones, so a late landing never costs you the car.
How much does golf transportation cost?
This site shows no rates. Enter your route in the booker and it returns one fixed all-inclusive total before you pay, with 13% HST and all fees included. The number depends on the vehicle, the date and your stops.
Can the chauffeur carry my clubs if I have a large hard case?
Put it in a note with the booking and choose the next vehicle up if you are unsure. Capacity is counted in bags, and an oversized case may use more than one space. An Executive Sprinter has the most room, and a Business SUV is the step before it.
